Some people wanted me to post some pics of the old 2jz I'm changing out after failure.

These pictures of of cylinders 3 and 4 and the oilpan and whats in it.

You can very clearly see the bearings are sitting 90 degrees out from where they should be and number 4 has welded itself onto the crank.

You could very easily wiggle the rod on the crank before I removed the rod cap. I am actually amazed that it doesn't look far worse in here considering how the thing sounded. It sounded like hammer being rolled around in a big metal box.

I think without any doubts the crank will have taken damage here as well obviously the rods.

Oh well I've got a spare motor now to build up in my free time!

The issue of what caused this failure however is still up in the air, I strongly suspect a weak oilpump and the motor may have been over-rev'd.

Won't know on the oil pump until I take it all apart and check things out, but that'll have to wait for a later time as I am trying to get the replacement all setup and checked out so I can make it down to the PAC NW meet and finally put some faces to all you crazy guys!

Can't wait, here's hoping that there are no other surprises.

Oh and I am assuming that I have to clean out all the oil cooler lines and such VERY well of course to get rid of any of this crap in the system. Suggestions on how to best do this anyone?

Wow Gord, talk about carnage. Atleast you're retired and have nothing but free time. Get that new motor cleaned, inspected, and installed. I'm really looking forward to meeting you at PacNW. Atleast you can still salvage a lot of the parts from your blown motor which you can sell to help cover the cost of the replacement motor.
