Ok so me and a couple friends finnished up puttin a different 7m engine (original had rod knock) into my 1 friends mk3...after pluggin everthing thing in, setting the timming and filling up the fluids. He goes to start up the car, cranks over, runs really rough for about 3-4 seconds and dies. Tries it again and gets a wierd noise and some greyish smoke out of the intake mani. Side.
We recorded the sound to see if anyone can possibly tell us wats going on because currently we are stuck and have no idea whats going on.

so please any usefull input or info. would be greatly appreciated.

hey man, maybe we can offer a reward to the first person who can correctly identify what the hell that is.

Also to note- the car didnt make this kind of noise when he bought it with the rod knock. It happened after trying to drive it home with the rod knock and did it on the first motor. now with a completely different motor, the rod knock is gone but this problem isnt.

You got some mice and rats stuck in the head, and when you guys crank it up, they are squeeling to get out....

Actually my car made noises like that when I connected the plug wires wrong. Check you ignition timing and plug wires are connected correctly.... :bigthumb:

Are you sure timing is on, how did you completly set it with out starting it. Wonder if it could be a leak between intake runners, or maybe in the isc the oring could be worn out causing it it make a sharp whistle noise. Does it make the noise when you try and start it with the throttle wide open.

ok its not that sensor (cause 22 code) because i tried unpluggin it on my car and it started up fine.
doesnt really make the noise all the time, i think u can tell in the sound clip...
how did we set the timming?
1. set the crank to 0
2. Pointed the cam gear notches up
3. aligned the notches on the CPS and put it in

and then started it.

Are you sure the engine was at TDC, and not 180 degrees off? that might explain the weasing noise, you would be pushing back into the intake side.
