Help with my Alpine, sliding face wont open all the way

So a buddy of mine gave me his Alpine CDA-7875 for the celica, I put it all in and checked to make sure it worked ok. all functions are fine, but when I press open (this units faceplace slides down at an angle to reveal a hidden cd slot) the faceplate slides about halfway maybe but doesnt move from there. Other times it does this then closes itself....

I cant find shit on google, was wondering if anyone knew a fix to this.

Yup, my alpine deck hits. It's a PITA too. The next deck I get will have a slot on the front.

Sounds like it's an electronic flip face?

If so, it might just be on it's way out. They tend to wear out over the years. How old is the unit?

about 2 1/5 to 3 years. Its probably on its way. If I help it a little, it opens and closes, but it needs help. Its a carry over unit anyways, just something until I get what I want.
