Help with Fuel Cut

Hey everybody! Im brand new to these forums.

I'm having a problem with hitting fuel cut. I hit fuel cut around 11 psi. I would like to run a little more boost up to 13 psi. Is there any safe way to boost 13 psi without going the lexus/550's method. If I get an Apexi Neo, will this allow me to boost slightly over fuel cut while giving me proper air/fuel ratios? Maybe a FCD is all I need?
Can anyone help? I want to boost 13psi but don't see the need to go lexus/550's.

Current Performance Mods are:
Blitz intake
3" BIC Downpipe
HKS 75mm Cat-back
Greddy Profec B Spec 2 EBC
Spearco Intercooler
Custom Hardpipes
HKS BOV

Engine is in perfect shape with 65,000 Miles with rebuild head, all new engine gaskets/belts, brand new OEM headgasket with ARP headbolts torqued at 76 ft/lbs, new radiator/fan clutch/thermostat. I already have an aftermarket boost gauge.

I also plan on getting a Walbro fuel pump and an AFPR. Possibly a Wideband A/F and EGT Gauges too.

Any input is appreciated

nope on the FCD.
maybe on the NEO.

Now with that said, unless you have the money already saved to replace the HG when it inevetibly will break in your case, I suggest not getting to stupid with upping the boost.

Fuel cut is there for a good reason.

Hey... thanks for your input.

I really don't think a brand new composite head gasket with arp headbolts will blow by occasionally boosting at 13psi.

Besides that, any other suggestions on the fuel cut issue?

get a safc and wide band, take the unmetered air screw out of the stock afm and that will let you run more boost, but be sure you are watching your AFRs... i was running 17psi on stock afm and stock injectors

That sounds right.

Get a fuel controller, wideband a/f ratio gauge along with a walbro fuel pump to rid the old tired stocker one.

Is a AFPR needed with the walbro fuel pump since it flows much more fuel or will the stock FPR be able to handle the extra pressure and/or fuel?

Thanks for your input

do you have to drill through the afm to back out the screw i plan on doing it and tuning the af ratios just wondering exactly how is done

-get neo

-get Aeromotive Fuel Press. Regulator

-set (no vacuum) fuel pressure to around 34.5psi

-start applying a negative correction of your MAF signal with the neo until you get out of boost cut

-make sure to use a Wideband while doing so, to make sure that you achieve acceptable low/hi load AFR's

-this setup should be easily able to support 1 bar

hey man, you will blow your composite head gasket, you are pushing it too much now, i usually dont like people saying; get the mhg, but beyond the point you are, say good bye to that normal gasket.

Stay out of detonation and you'll be fine, period. The head gasket doesn't magically blow, it happens for a reason and in the case of the stock motor it's an easily replaceable "safe" fail point. Alright Mr. MHG, what goes next after the HG you just made bullet proof? Rings? Piston? Rod?

Several members here have proven time and time again it's not the HG material that really matters, as long as the tune is solid. The main thing you need to worry about on a stock HG set up like yours (IE, properly torqued and never run below proper torque) is detonation, because that is what's going to blow it.

To answer your question, get a wide band, back out the screw on the AFM (assuming you have the one with a screw, if not I don't know what to tell you other than get a Lex) while keeping a careful eye on your AFRs and if necessary add a little fuel in with an SAFC. You're right on not needing the 550s, you're well under 80% injector duty cycle at your power level.

Does anybody else feel 13 psi on a composite head gasket with ARP bolts is pushing it too far?

I've heard many people running 15+psi with composite and ARP bolts without any problems. (given it was installed properly with the cooling sysyem in A+ shape along with the associated go fast mods)

Thanks for your input guys.
