i don't know how to swap a gte into a care with a w58 trans but you need a w58 bellhousing and mate it to the gte but it probally won't last long since it is the weakest manual trans for the supra's. Just save up for R154

word, i will eventually. i just need the car to run for a few events till i save some money up then ill complete the swap with the R154 tranny. does anyone else know what else ill need to do? someone told me the fuel pump needs changed, i have everything figured out for the engine bay and tranny wise i just wanna know what else wont hold up with the swap.

W58 should be a good trans from 350-400hp until it gives out slowly. Also remember to use all gte electronics on the motor and also use the ge flywheel, clutch, and driveshaft.

Also there's numerous threads about this conversion so if you get stuck, searching is your friend.

W58 is just fine, I'm BPU and I couldn't be happier...

you'll need a 7MGE flywheel and upgraded pressure plate and clutch set-up, nothing R154 will bolt-on except maybe the master cylinder.

Wrong. Unless the W58 is broken from previous abuse, it's fine for a GTE. I've been using one at ~8-11lbs of boost for over 10k miles and its good as new.

w58 trans wont like the turbo engine. It bolts up fine, but the turbo engine just over powers the trans eventually.

Wrong agian. For some reason it REALLY bugs me when people rag on the w58. It holds just fine at near stock levels.

4cefed.com has a bunch of info if it's still up. It's a super easy swap. sounds like you have a clue what you're doing so you should be fine. Keep the w58 until you want more than ~350hp/tq OR if you plan on drifting/abusing it. The R154 is rock solid, but the w58 can be great for people under 350hp/tq that DONT drop the clutch and practice burnouts. If you're goal is a drift/track car you may have chosen the wrong chassis, but if you insist on it you'll want the R154 eventually.

Precisely. Get a W58 clutch that's good for ~350ft lbs (since the trans wont hold much more anyways it's a complete waste of money to get something stronger.)

.....Aaaaaaaand I'm done ranting. :)

haha its straight dude, some ppl have been say the same things. yeah i plan on drifting the car its gonna be pretty upset with me at first but im going to school and garaging it so ill have space, some extra cash, and some weekend time to build it up for next season... street life tour, you aint ready! haha im confident the w58 will hold up to a stock gte so im not worried about that anymore im just concirned about like fuel pump, coil pack, oil cooler, intercooler kit, and a few other things to make this a 2 day swap so if you guys know anyone selling these items hit me up..

350 - 400 is close to stock now? I don't think so. I know a w58 can handle close to stock levels, Ive owned 4 of them. And all 4 of them died right at about 300rwhp. And its not the horsepower that kills the transmissions, its the torque.
