Hey guys i was driving my car and heard something weird and its sound like a rod knock but only knocks above 2000 rpm. would it be easier just to try to replace the rod and crank myself or take it to the shop??

before you do any work use a mechanic stethiscope(think i spelt it right) or a long piece of tubing which worked for me. i have a similar problem and my knocking sound is coming from my exhaust side cam.
check your exhaust studs make sure they are not falling out. that is my current problem and when i had a stud falling out it sounds like i have rk but the knocking isnt coming from any cylinders.

There are countless threads on rebuilding on here, bro. Do some searching and read up on everything. It'll help you make informed decisions on where to go from here.
Ps. It would be pretty hard to pull the crank out a cylinder, dontcha think? Unfortunately, if it is rk, a full pull and rebuild would probably be in order...gl.

You will need to pull the engine...but like NewWestSupras said do some research....if you aren't ready to do it yourself then find someone you trust to help you or do it for you.
