HELP QUICK! Wont start!

Alright I finnally got the whole new motor installed and hooked up ready to go. But heres the deal, it wont fire... The motor turns over perfectly and it builds oil pressure great. But I cant audibly hear the fuel pump from inside the car when i turn the key, should i be able to hear it pretty easily? is it loud or does it operate pretty quietly? Second the VAM(vein air meter?) makes this clunk noise when im turning it over, like the little flapper keeps getting pulled and it slaps back, just goes "clunk, clunk......clunk". The car is a 1988 with a 7mgte block and completely N/A electronics down to the intake manifolds, sensors, ECU, harness. Basically an N/A car with a 7mgte short block.

I need help quick, wanna hear it start up tonight if possible.

BTW, the gas in it is kinda old, but it doesnt even seem to want to kick over at all. It has a full tank, could this be a huge problem other than it just running a little poorly?

as far as using n/a harness and ecu on a turbo, i dont think id do it(really dont think it would work right) do you mean aif flow meter not air vein meter? have you checked for spark? got all your grounds tight? what fuel pump is in there, stock, walbro????? you shouldnt be able to hear it till about the time the engine starts. stock fuel pumps are pretty quiet but the walbro's are quite loud.

Ok well i took off the fuel return line and some fuel spilled out and then i turned the key to the on position and no fuel came out of the line, i tried to put vacuum on the line with my mouth and still nuthin came out of the line... any suggestions?

Fuel pump doesnt produce fuel pressure on my car until the engine starts turning, mine has no problems. Well, except for a crappy clutch.

Check your pre-injector, its in the middle of the intake manifold on the bottom of the plenum beside the manifold brace, behind the butterfly. Its probably dirty

you've been trying to start your car over and over. you should biuld pressure the istant the key is turned to start whether the motor turns over or not. sounds like pump to me. try loosening the fuel line right after trying to start so you know the presure hasn't gone down already.

If you have fuel pressure, spark and your distributor is installed correctly, take out the plugs to check. With all this starting, you might have fouled up the plugs, too wet to start.

my gas tank pressurizes, few starts i remove the fuel cap and it goes "pssshh" not crazy pressurized but well enough to hear it. This is frustrating me, if there arent results soon, itll probly sit in the garage for another month before i can get the initiative to go figure it out...

it could be the plugs sre too wet to fire. pull them all out and let it dry out in there and clean off the plugs. if you still think its the fuel pump, i still have my stock one sitting in my toolbox. i dont need it now that i havew the walbro in there. if you need it pm me and its on its way.

just pulled a few plugs, 1,2,5,6 and its pretty wet in there, the plugs are brand new so ill just let them dry too. I put a heater in the garage to help warm it up in there, might make it easier to start. I just hope my battery still has enough after this torture to it...
