I think my stock needs a replacement. Every time im moving I hear a pinging knoking noice bauncing at random times. I could check it , but I ive in a appartment and have no place to do it. Back then no problem since I lived in a house. I dont know if it is the exaust or should I check something else. Also any recomendation of any exaust that is high flow, double bafle and street legal in Calif (got to have a 4" tip).I was thinking a megan M- DF or the M-RS however it is only got 2.25 inlet(got to know the stock diameter fisrt).By the way does any one know what diameter is the stock exaust piping.

it depends on how bad said pinging is. knocking and pinging are pretty different, my 7m pinged but i just needed to switch from 90ocatne to 92octane and it stopped. dealership said it was just the timing backing off due to low ocatne fuel. knocking is pretty nosiy and needs attention. just my .02 but wait till one of the more knowlegeable guys chime in before jumping into a rebuild

Does it sound like marbles in a can?
or a clack, clack, clack like a hammer hitting something under light load?

mine pings as well, i thought it was a ball joint or something, but read up that it was the motor mounts, can they make the ping sound? happens when i go slowly to the left only.

Just like a light clack, clack, but only when going at about less than 25mph

HMMMMMMMmmmmm...Rod knock....

Bad valve lash?

LOL, what kind of load??? Your stock what?? Give some details on your car/setup. Is it your engine? Do you have any codes?

I doubt its detonation at 1100-1800RPM, stock turbo depending on location/health, 87 should be fine IMO.

The sound actualy comes from under the car ,in the midle of the exaust piping, between the engine and the midlle silencer. The sound it makes is monotone like a pieze of metal scratching the exaust piping very lightly for about 2 to 3 secs.Note, the sound is not long but monotone or pulsating( like bouncing).Sometimes it makes it sometimes it doesn't (very randomly at low speeds) . I got oem piping ct-26turbo and oem engine trany.Only the hks head gasket, timing belt ,tensioner oil seals, rad hoses and heater hose. I havent changed anything else since i got it. The load is just my body weight
Sometimes i think there is something lose inside the pipes. It would be nice if someone recomends where to get all the exaust piping, (high flow) but not the muffer. I want to get the megan N-1 turbo muffer.

Well I wouldn't worry about octane.

Like grimreaper said, do you here it if you rev the engine from under the hood, or only when moving?

I wouldn't think the turbo would make that noise, but someone else might be able to help there.

Is it an exhaust leak?, but that wouldn't explain only somtimes.

By load I essentialy ment, TPS. Like WOT or light throttle.

Only when moving at light trotle on the street .When I boost no noise neither high speed cruise.

Lol...Anyway- It sounds to me like the input shaft shield on the tranny is rubbing on the driveshaft, OR the exhaust piping itself is hitting the driveshaft.

It may be the exhaust mount that bolts to the tranny. If there's no clamp there it might just be making noise because of the vibrations when your first starting to move. The pipe bouncing off the mount. Mine was doing that when i first put on my ddp and didnt have a 3" clamp. Went to pepboys, Problem solved.

sounds like your bogging it down. Slow to 30 mph, put it in 3rd or 4th and press on the gas heavily. Same sort of noise?
