What jdub said... I suggest an aftermarket oil pressure gauge.

my gauge used to act funky when I swapped over a JDM engine into my 89, it would rise to the top then slowly descend. When the 86.5 received it's JDM engine, the gauge wouldn't move at all. Now finally when I swapped in a JDM engine into my 92, I made sure to change the oil pressure sender and it works like stock...

not sure why they're different, maybe metric vs standard, who knows..

i actually had the same issue the op described but it wasnt due to a jdm ops. it was due to the signal wire melting on the header. cut the wire hoping it would drop but it stayed at the top. wired it back up 2 weeks later and no change. fired gauge?
