Help me ! 1jz misfire confusion

Car is definatly running pig rich, lots of black of the tail. Id bet its a faulty sensor or ecu like previously mentioned.
Does the 1J ecu have a fail safe mode for when it craps out? I know when an ecu on a honda is bad it will go into limp mode and wont rev over 2000 or 2500rpm I belive. Could explain why it idles fine but wont rev up. Check the ecu, seems to be the most popular point brought up here so far.

by checking it i took it aprt to look at it and i heard it would smell like burnt plastic .
ok ill check the crank sensor ...any one think it might b ICV or MAF

Check things as you go. But ecu should tell you unless it's the problem

jump the t1 and e1 and pull some codes since the check engine light is on!!!!

and idunno what 1.3 or .9 is for your spark plug gap but mine are at .28

I didnt read every post in detail, but make sure you check the wiring leading from the coil connectors.

You can also pull each coil connector one at a time. If one of them doesn't make an obvisou diff in the way the engine is running, you may have a bad coil or wiring to it.

I think the plug is a result of the misfire, not the cause anyways.

GAP? I also gap mine at .028 Try regaping them it can't hurt. And check your coils for cracks. My car stumbled really bad not as bad as yours, but all of my coils had cracks. Some had four or more. I bought a whole set and some 6097 gaped at .028 and it runs like a champ now.

yea i tryd that coil trick by pulling them off one at time and nothing happen. yea i gapped on mm not inch ill regap tho.

Piston Rings or valves are bad? that happend to my MR2 i dunno if its the same for the 1jz...

Have you heat shrinked your coil packs? I did that to mine and it fixed my breaking up problem. I put on 2 layers of 1" heat shrink on mine.

im going to say it has crank walk just because my dsm had that back in veitnam.

ill see what i can do about ecu but pulling your coils one at a time should have done something if it was missing on anyone cylinder....

im kinda new to this but try changing out your coolent temp sensor. i have heard of that really fucking with how the car runs.

if the efi coolent temp sensor is bad the car will just crank and crank not firing over


check you injector clips should be like brown grey brown make sure you dont have two colors next to each other

sorry gmal passed away been busy heres the deal she sat for 2 days n i started her she runs like a fucking champ i mean awesome rev her up to 5 grand 2 or 3 times and it didn't misfire and no black smoke it was weird ...but ......she wouldn't idle u let of the gas n she died but the missing didnt start last time till she was warmed up but i cant do that unless she ideals

i had trouble like that , and in my case it was crack on each coil(check the plastic around the spring of secondary circuit),i put 3m electric tape around and the touble was fixed

Fixed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was missing the ignitor noise filter!!!!!!
