i was out driving, and i got on it and shifted to 2nd and all of the sudden it didnt go into gear. it bogged down a bit and then died. i cant even get it to idle normally with out dieing. it sprays a shitload of gas out the back end and i burned a half a tank going 50 miles last sunday. i purchases a fuel pulsation damper [thinking that was the problem] and i just put it in. is there a way to test and check to see if the pulsation damper is ok? my friend said something about blowing in the end of it and what not. im not sure if ive got a serious problem somewhere but im running really rich with only basic boltons [exhaust, filter, plugs. etc...] could this be the pulsation damper? what else could it be?

it made a 500mile trip with no problems and then i got it back and now it would go over 2500 rpms with out cutting out and bogging. the turbo sounds like its spooling incredibly fast, but im not getting any boost. the car kinda jerks when i try to drive it. i have to keep my foot on the gas to keep it from dieing. i also tried to throw it in neutral when i was driving it the first time when it happened and it would die in neutral...

any help? advice? sorry if the post is out of whack and disorganized. its cold as balls here and im getting sick of going out in the cold to play with things.

Sorry, unable to read your post. Avatar very distracting:aigo:

Did you say pulsation dampener? get rid of that pos, its very restrictive.

Sounds like you have a boost leak to me. Are you getting a check engine light?

OK well, good luck.
You should pressure test the IC system just to be safe. I'd hate to see someone spent alot of time/money on something that might not even be the problem. I still say get rid of that stock P/D in fact, get rid of all the stock fuel delivery/return components. Upgade BABY UPGRADE::w00t::

everytime i try to turn the car over, it leaks fuel from the pulsation damper. i think i crushed one of the seals because i had to use vice grips to tighten the thing. the one i baught the other day was fucked anyways so that doesnt work. ill just have to buy another one and be careful i guess. im pretty sure that is the problem. it is leaking alot of fuel from that spot on the fuel rail. any other ideas anyone?

Well you didn't say it was leaking before so thats what led me to believe it was a boost leak. Or if you did I didn't see it(avatar was causing me to lose focus)

hah. wouldnt be the first time. it happens. im about to go change it as we speak. i just got someone to ship another one to my house here and ill try that. theres a shit load of snow here so it cant be too bad that the car doesnt run. i wont have to drive her in the snow/salt shit! win/lose type of thing. i dunno. i hope this works though. ill just have to wait a few days. plus by the time it gets here [hopefully monday] it will be 40 degrees and ill replace my valve cover gaskets while im at it.

oh, to anyone reading this... whats the best, easiest, and safest way to remove and replace the fuel pulsation damper on the fuel rail? i already crushed one of the seals on one and it started spraying fuel when i tried to start it!

Make sure you have both washers on the dampener, one on each side. I had problems with leaking fuel because i had both on one side. :3 BTW, i would personally suggest getting rid of the FPD. I make it a point to try and upgrade everything i realistically can whenever it breaks/wears out. That way if you go for more power down the road, you don't have to buy the same parts twice. (Or three times, in your case.)

How did you come to the conclusion that it's the FPD? Do you have any science behind this conclusion? Do you know what the FPD does? If it's leaking fuel, YES, replace it.. but I feel like you messed with it, and that's why it started leaking.. no? The FPD dampens (softens) the harsh pulses the fuel system encounters. If it failed, I don't see how this would cause the symptoms you're describing.

The first suggestion of an intake leak is possible. Losing metered air will cause the computer to inject more fuel into the engine while the engine is receiving very little air. This will cause a RICH condition such as the one you're experiencing.

Don't just go replacing parts, do your research first or you will waste a lot of time and money.
