Help choosing I.C.

Hello, I am doing a slow supra build, my car is disassembled and as i search for the parts i need to finish it, i am choosing between purchasing stock or aftermarket parts. I am not planning on making mind blowing power, I just want a decent, nice looking, reliable DD with balls

I have never put together a turbo car so i dont know too much about it

what i will be running:
-3 in. exhaust to 3 in. dual outlet muffler, came with the car
-I will be getting a turbo 3 in. dp soon since i am doin a na to turbo swap
-custom cold air intake
-thinking about a different trim turbo since i dont have my turbo yet but i dunno if i can afford 1 yet
etc.
looking for a decent ebay ic but i dont know too much about them so i am hoping for an opinion or suggestion.

IC would probably be the only thing i would ever buy
from ebay, for precision isnt an important aspect in building an IC.


But that one you posted isnt bad, its made by godspeed if im not
mistaken.... Which isnt a bad company.

Im currently using a godspeed IC Kit and no problems at all.

I personally see nothing wrong with that IC myself.

It says the piping is already fitted, and it is for the most part,
but you will most likley have to cut a little down by your
window washer so the piping can fit and come up through there,
No major cutting but you will need some, because it wont fit
where the stock IC soft pipes went.

You will also have to drill some holes in your bumper to mount it,
and it will sit about 2" below your bumper BUT thats with the
little black lip removed. I just took my off idk why lol.

If you have any questions i can take pictures of how you
will have to mount it, cause i believe i got the same intercooler
there.

I got an ebay edition IC and it has a nice construction to it. Heard plenty people who use it and say they perform pretty well. Just my .02

I know people who've put various different ebay intercoolers in various different cars and I haven't seen any of them cause any problems at this point other than some select persons not doing their homework and buying one that was WAY to big for the space he had. Plan it out a bit, maybe try and find a chunk of sheet plywood or something that you can cut to size (height and width) so you can at least have an idea how it's going to sit and where you can mount it. That way you have a better idea of what you're getting into in terms of modifying mounting space.

I got a CX kit off ebay, and it works great. 24X18X4, with 3 inch inlet, and outlet, and 3 inch hard pipes. Had to move my oil cooler, and coolant reservoir, and cut a little of that center brace to fit it, but it's working fantastic. Running stock boost, and I'm getting 7 PSI on my autometer gauge.

The intercooler you are looking at has the inlet and outlet on opposite sides. You need a intercooler with them on the same side, unless you are running a ffim. Other wise you will have a hard time running the piping. They have a few intercoolers on ebay that are supposedly a direct bolt-on i would go with one of those.

well correct me if im wrong, but i chose this kit because it comes with the u pipes so i can maybe wrap them around to fit.

Like i said, i dont know too much about ic's but i have seen thousands of supras running ic's with the in/out on opposite sides.

so im guessing this wouldnt be the best choice for me because of that? and theres no way to safely wrap the piping around with the U's?

how about this 1 here? it says its an mkiii kit and it is also a in out on opposite sides, its bigger and it even comes with a cheap bov lol

My kit was like your linked kit. It took a little work, but wrapping it around went fine. The direct fit is more expensive. If you use your head, and patience, the set your looking at will install fine. It might need a few more clamps, and connectors though, depending on how perfectly you run it. And you will need to cut some of the pipes too. It's not too hard at all, if you can accept the challenge.

P.S. You will also need two reducers, not included with the kit, but they can be gotten on ebay as well.

Oh, and lastly, find the kit that has the 3 inch in/outs or you will need more reducers, (at least I don't see them in the pictures).

hey i think i might be going with the ffim, but only if i can find a california smog legal 1, 935 motorsports out here in san diego had a few if im not mistaken but i also heard since they are still in "prototype" they wont have the vacuum lines, but we'll see

the ffim saves alot of space and even tuneup time, its not too expensive either.

so what i am going to do now is just buy the second intercooler i posted and set it aside until i know a little more about passing smog with the ffim.
