Help Annoying Idling Problem

well today i had my brother look at the car and he tapped the TPS with a screwdriver a couple of times and the idle problem is gone... He thinks that something is loose or the wires or connector is messing it up....

I guess this car likes to be beat with things cause this is the third thing we just hit it with something and it started working. My stock BOV was stuck open so I was gonna get a new one but I was bored and just started beating it with a hammer well now it closed and it works too with no problems...

well im having funny things going on with my car and i feel like i need to adjust or take apart my tps..

i just pulled the ics apart at school today, and it;s a simple seliniod that has 4 stages that it turns, so like 1/4 turns, and has sealed ball bearings, and a greased shaft that the rotor turns on,

to get it to work, you need to power up both the center pins, and then ground the other for in order, s1 ,s2,s3,s4,s1,s2,s3,s4 and so on and so on untill the motor starts clicking.

and to revrse check it just ground it 4-3-2-1

just to let you know this is the slowest freakin motor i have seen , but the ecu can send signals to this thing at like 300 a second or what every so it is probaly a really smooth operating motor and percise..

the probaly im having is my car wont idle, but if you crack the throttle you can get it to idle..

my instructor said that the isc will stay closed untill the throttle is closed....

I checked the codes and came up with code 51
any ideas on what to check

As you're already found out a code 51 means the IDL contacts on the TPS are open. Since the ISC system will not operate unless they're closed there's your problem. The poteniometer portion of the TPS is electrically separate and has nothing to do with idle (the ecu ignores it when the IDL contacts are closed).

The IDL contacts (a simple single pole switch) can easily be checked anytime by shorting the diag block and slightly cracking the throttle. Code 51 should appear and then clear when the throttle is released.
