when the thread gets unlocked I will post it up.

and lanky I dont think anyone was getting pissed, no one attacked each other and it was a good debate. both sides have stayed away from personal attacks and I didnt feel that it would have escalated to personal attacks.

OPEN IT BACK UP, DEBATE TIME ISNT OVER.

I learned to spell on Planet Clair, you know the one thats has pink air, all the trees are red, no on ever dies there, no one has a head. But I did take Evelyn Woodheads Spedredden course once or was that twice. And Hey if ya can't argue with a fellow American about Issues without becoimg angry you aint American. See we here in the US argue about anything we want to knowing that we aint gonna be murdered cause we didn't aggree with someone. That makes us different than most other countries.

"Goodmorning Viet Nam" was such a funny movie.

My best friends a terrorist... this will not look good on a resume... Dang it hurts my sides to watch that movie.

Ok, but Viet Nam is screwed up. A few decades of Communism will do that to a country.
The people are poor.
Uneducated.
Pretty much sucks to live there.

I think Viet Nam, and to a good extent Cuba are both poster children for developing countries world wide.
You can choose to be free and end up like Taiwan, rich and well educated, or you can choose to be communist and end up like Cuba or Viet Nam..

We don't need wars, we need country tours for prospective new governments. Choose country type A. or B. It's your choice, and you will have to deal with the consequences either way.

What really blows is Viet Nam has a great history of past achievement, so one can only hope they wise up, change to a consumer driven society and get some money into their country. Hard work and capitolism has never hurt society, now or in the past, and I belive the only countries and societies what will flourish in the future will be consumerism based.

Oh, and as far as the war goes, we should have nuked Hanoi while Jane was there visting. That was a leftover French war we got caught up in as part of the cold war. What a series of screw up's on the part of the politicians.
On a more serious note, we should have treated it like any other war of late that has been sucessful.
Airpower and a concerted bombing campain to level the opposition. (Including the bridges into China that supplied the weapons to the NVC.)
Then a ground war that takes locations and holds them, re-supplies and then moves on again. You do this untill you have taken the war up to the border of North Viet Nam and China. Tell the Chinese we have no Intrest in going over the border, and they would have listened I believe.
Just think of all the low cost goods and services the world would have bought from Viet Nam so many years before. (And the markets they took themselves out of as a result of the "win" they had over America and the West...
Look at so many of the worlds prosperous nations, and you'll find they often were once defeated by the USA miltary in the past Century. Defeat is good for your country when America is involved. The same will eventually hold true for Afganistan and Iraq if they can slow down and think about it for a moment or two, and get over the religous aspects of life that are intolerant of others who are not muslim.

Agreed, I was really enjoying that discussion, no one was getting pissed or anything. I didn't see any real reason to lock it, no one was flaming, we were actually debating intelligently. I have nothing against DeadCell or anyone else in there, and enjoyed the thought-provoking debate.
You should be proud of us, lanky. :)

If you have time to read over the comments (which are a bit long) I think you'll find it interesting and thought provoking, and, surprisingly, flame-less. Just a good debate, which I don't think any one wanted to get closed. No personal attacks, etc, just debating the actual topic (and a few other tangents lol). I thought it was one of the few good political type posts...
