Depends on your definition of structural. 3960 tensile, no spec for shear or compression and good to only 500F? You tell me ;)

I use a similar but commercial product called Alumiset for non structural repairs but I'd never use a two part expoy, metalized or not, for anything exposed to exhaust heat (note the website says the same) or anything I'd call structural. It works well to seal oil leaks though. Parting lines of opposed engine cases, trannies, that kind of thing.

I suppose they'll always be people who try though.

since jake got a heli-coil i feel safe going alittl off topic and telling a jb weld story:

my DSM friend had a BAD exhaust leak at his flex pipe, totally rusted through, hole bigger than a quarter. he neeed to pass emishions the next day. so we just took about a whole tube of jbweld and slaped it on up there but cuz the hole was so big it kept dipping down. so i grabed some fiberglass cloth that i had and we put that over the hole with the jbweld. looked like ASS. but it didnt leak and the emissions tester didnt have a problem with it. but about a week later he put his 3in dp and catback on so it didnt have to last long anyway.

thats what jbweld is good for, nothing permanent.
