i use a greedy heavyweight shift knob. works well for me. the idea is, the shifter has more momentum from gear to gear so you are less likely to miss a shift. also if your shifter rattles or buzzes (previous owner did the sogi mod without the bushings) this will help alot.

i have the same one and I love it!!!! It was cheaper than the one you are looking at too. i payed 40$ for mine plus like 7$ in shipping....... it should be on ebay as well!!! :icon_bigg

One thing to remember is during the summer that thing is going to get hot as hell, and it will take a while to cool down when it is a pound of solid steel. I had a metal shift knob for a little bit and I got tired of it.

I agree, I have one and I hate it. FLORIDA SUN I put a sock over it to keep it from burning my hand! I guess I should get a cool golf club cover!!??

I ACTUALLY burned my hand in the heat about three weeks ago. Serisouly. And it melted my steering wheel.

Now i drive with a small towel under my seat so i can put it on the steering wheel and shifter knob!

Ive got a momo light weight shifter and i like it!

my shift knob isn't light, but it's not super heavy weight, but I prefer the feel of a heavy shift knob. I think greddy makes a 'heavier' knob and my buddy has it on his mkiv and I like that one as well.

Have it coated or covered or something for the heat. I have a metal knob and as long as you don't drive around with your hand on the shifter for 5 minutes you can quicly grab it and throw it in gear.

I drive around with a hooded sweater in my back seat, put the sweater over the steering wheel, and the sleeve over the knob :) haha

I have a weighted shifter and love it. Together w/ the sogi mod and truck bushing it made shifting way easier, especially into reverse.

I have the Ra98 GT 340g, it looks really nice with my grey leather and sits just right quick shifts and daily driving. Before the sogi mod it felt like a real truck shifter, kinda fun actually but not that benficial for racing. My good friend went out and got a weighted shifter for his M3 after he drove my car. The drift king also recommends getting a weighted shifter if thats your thing.

The only downside is that the leather came off, but it made my interior look better with it off IMO.

The thing i like about a metal shift knob is that you can feel the vibration from the transmission better. It keeps you a little more in touch with what the synchros are doing. At least thats the experience I had in my truck.
As far as them getting/feeling too hot in the sun... Ceramic coating?

You think a heavier shift knob will generate more momentum than your arm?

Nothing against you personally. But that idea was started so kids will spend a hundred bucks on a new shift knob.

actually its grade school physics. momentum is a funtion of mass. the shift knob doesnt generate anything (you are either trying to make a joke or you are very confused). think of the shifter like a hammer. your arm can swing a heavier hammer just as fast as a light hammer, but the heavier hammer will drive in the nails much better and easier.

but regardless of the physics, i personally prefer a heavier knob because i feel it gives me surer more positive shifts. the heat it retains parked in the sun is anouther thing though.:icon_conf
