I am finally getting around to installing my HIDS from a previous CK-group buy. I was hoping this would only take about an 1-hour, but I have already spent that much time searching for info on correctly installing/modifying everything.

So, can ya'll please help with these questions?

General - Will I really need to remove the whole headlight assembly? Does it just make the install easier and everything more accessible?

Ballasts - Any feedback/tips on mounting locations and results from your install?

Foglights - The foglight rewire tech tip's pictures are not showing up. Anyone have another write-up with current/working pics?

Time - How much time did it take you to install the CK plug-n-play kit?

If you have pics and can send 'em to me, I'll be glad to host.

TIA!

I didnt remove the whole headlight assembly i have small hands and arms so i was able to just snake my way around everything it was still quite easy i would say no you dont have to.
Ballasts - Any feedback/tips on mounting locations and results from your install? I mounted the passenger side ballast by the intake hole where the air intake points. Driver side ballance is mounted on to the left of the headlight itself. Youll see the two screw holes im talking about.

Foglights - The foglight rewire tech tip's pictures are not showing up. Anyone have another write-up with current/working pics? http://gallery.sanitylapse.com/v/supra/Foglight+Rewire/

WOW!!! Thanks JDMMA70!

I got the hi/low kit and am using the Neolite #Neo-940 housing (6"x8" 200mmx142mm). This is supposed to be the same/similar to the Hella E-Code housings, but cost much less. We'll seehow it works.

Kinda off-topic, but what body kit are you using. It looks very clean and professionally done.

SupraDupra has a great wright up on how to wire those up correctly. Follow that completely & you shouldn't have any problem. As for my body kit- Stock bumper with Original Turbo A duct, Yashirs Bomex 3-hole knock off. Kaminari Sides & Bomex rears

I saw Supradupra's write-up, but the pics are so close up, I can't get my head around the orientation of things. Also, figuring others may have also done it differently and looking for as many examples as possible.

Can't sem to find the purchase details for the headlight housings I am using. I know it was less than $40 and they were advertised as replacements for Firebirds/Camaros. Can't remember if they were off of Ebay or a commercial site. Will see what I can do to find more info. Searching by the manufacturer numbers is not helping.

I could use a maybe-not-so-close-up of this same pic Supradupra has in his write-up.

As for the mounting of the ballast I did the same as JDMMA70 stated. Do what works for you. The MOST Important thing to go by in Supradupra's post is the wiring. That is what I was really referring to. So your using replacement headlights from a Camaro. Are you going for the sleepy eye look? If not then go with Cibbi or Hella E-Code replacements for the A70. Forgot to ask earlier but you are using casper shields correct? W/O them would be a :nono:

Installed and just needing to adjust the headlights. Found those bolts from the earlier pic. It's not as solid as I'd prefer the ballasts to be, so I may relocate later.

Initially tho, it does not look like the high-beams are working. I'll have to troubleshoot later.

The headlight housings are H6054... when I bought them, they were being advertised for converting really old Camaro/Firebird headlights. Basically the same rectangle housings that fit almost everything. I was just mentioning that, in case someone wanted to do a search. It's been a loooong while since I bought 'em.

Why the frowns/sadness...?

Also, I just used what the kit came with... no one had mentioned the Casper shields before (in any of the other threads I read earlier today).

Ohhhhh. Gotcha. Retrofit is with the projectors, right? I remember that being a too-expensive-to-do option for me, unless pricing and work/installation is comparable to this kit.

I have to remove the kits from my car...

The ballasts are rusting and one has died, a bulb burnt out, and the control box for the hi/lo died.

I'm gonna end up spending a LOT of money to do it the way I want it this time around...

No problems here. I'm still running one from his 1st group buy about 2 yrs ago on my daily driver. I bought one that I installed in my sons SC300 last Aug I think. I would have got my last set from him but he has not been active on the forum. With that set a bulb burnt out in less then 2 days.

Get the shields. Its a must when using H4 housings. The ones pictured are for D2S or D2R Bulbs to fit into an H4 housings. If you have H4 re based bulbs then you will need to get ones to fit them.

Running W/O them will not direct the light onto the road & cause blinding glare to oncoming traffic.

The ones he has have shields on them as they're the same ones I have.

His car isn't a DD so they should last longer, but mine is a DD and sees a lot of miles and weather...
