I have an '87. ever since i changed my HG, my headlights don't work like they used to. on the light control switch, there's tail, up, headlights. well, my headlights don't pop-up on up. they only pop-up on headlights. when they are up, the headlights don't go down until the off position.

before, they did pop-up on the up position, and went down before the off position.

i would like my headlights how they were before.

The headlights do turn on.

does anyone know how to fix this?

The headlights do not go down until the off postion. There was an electrical short of some sort, and you corrected the wiring by accident.

Check for power and ground at the headlights. It is also possible to have to bad lights.

so originally, the headlights are supposed to stay up until the off position?

so i should check my headlights for bad lights? and that might fix the not going up in the up position?

When turning on:
Off - Nothing - Tail/Illum - Headlights On and Popup

When turning off:
Headlights on and up - tail/illum with headlights still up, but off - all lights off, headlights still up - Off, headlights retract.

It's in the manual, if you have it, check your glovebox ;).

Jeff is correct. This was so that people in "COLD" climates could turn their lights off and leave them up - to prevent them from freezing in the down position.
