I was just wondering if anybody has header wrapped their chinaman Divorced Downpipe and if they have experienced any problems with the welds cracking? I have searched and seen a lot of threads about whether Header wrapping is good or bad, but have yet to see someone state if they have developed any cracks on the welds.
Any help would be greatly appreciate it. I want to keep my temps down in the hood, exhaust manifold is already ceramic coated and the hot side on the turbo will be ceramic coated also. Just want to see if can wrap my chinaman DDP and not have to worry too much about the welds cracking in a few months.
Thanks for the help

i plan on wrapping my chinaman ddp. i dont see why not. there arent any welds that will be covered up, its one long pipe from the outlet to the 3'' flange that meets to the cat... haha.

just make sure you paint it with some VHT to protect it before you wrap it.

pretty sure its controversial because the wrap will hold the moisture in and cause it to rust quicker...not sure about welds cracking though.

well... if your going to wrap a BIC downpipe you might have to worry becuase his pipe has like 8 pieces welded together, and its not stainless... so that might rust if you dont coat the pipe. but your suppose to coat the pipe before you wrap it.

and all of the "chinaman" pipes are one solid piece... two pieces if you have a recirculated, which that would be the only visible weld that would be covered up if you think about it.

^i was wondering the same thing. they look decent.

and yeah my dp is wrapped. it made a big difference in my under hood temp. i don't see where you got the idea the header wrap is going to crack a weld. the main problem i have is the shit holds water if its pouring rain out so it will make your dp rust way faster unless its painted, stainless, or coated.

exactly

as for the flatness of the flange, i got a ebay ddp, flang was flat and no leaks but it was too low on the bottom side and kept the wastegate from opening:naughty: 15psi on a 7m-ge na-t... so i had to take it off and do some grinding. i'll end up wrapping mine and when it rusts out get a better one.
