I have head studs and I can't get my 12 point past my cams.... is it possible with the right tool??? And if so where would I get such a skinny walled socket......or would i have to remove my cams to get the head off

You just need to rotate the cams so the socket clears them. To be safe, I roll the engine forward ~30degrees so there's no chance of hitting valves and pistons.

It's not hard to remove the cams. Just keep track of all the caps and their positions and then oil journals and torque them back correctly.

You must not have stock cams? All the cams I have ever seen have had two flat spots on that round area you are hitting.

Yeah, the stock cams have flat spots there that you could hold with a wrench. As for cam removal, here's the TSRM link :)

and installation....

Definitely keep them in order and put back in the same spot that they were before (mine were stamped I1 - 17 and E1 - E7 with an arrow for direction forward from the previous owner, made it a heck of a lot easier).

Strange, my BC272's and stockers don't have interference like that...I'd be very interested to find out exactly what those cams are!
