Some problems i have i need help with.

first I know it's the injectors, should it be making tickin noise at all ??? or what the hell is wrong ??

Second, Everytime i set the timing to 10 degree with the gun, it changes after a while by it's self to 15 degree. Why is it doing that ???

Third, my Evaporative emission system Canister, the two nipples on top, should those both be blowing air out or something ??? cause mine does nothing when i take the vacuum line out, i try to cover it with my finger to see if it sucks or blows, and it does nothing.

Fourth, I got oil leak out of the cps, its not leaking from the inside from its leaking threw the cps as in when the cps goes in, my cps o ring is fine, and it still leaks out, i change the cps out, and its still doing that.
what can it be ?? its really annoying me, and oil is getting on the exhaust manifold cover and i smell alot of oil smell. I did put in 6 1/2 qrts of oil when i did the oil change, but that should be the problem, can it be ?

well the first two

if its a light ticking, moving around the length of the head, its the injectors, and normal, if not maybe valve lash is out a bit..not a big problem, then i heard you cam caps can come loose, bigger problem..

my head has ticked since i bought it, not worried, might fix it this winter.

did you jump the terminals when you set timing? and tighten the cps bolt

you wont notice a vacum on the charcoal canister, the hose sucks from the canister, and i dont think it sucks all the time, deffinently not when cold

last one, confused

Injectors + valve train noise. As suggested, check your valve clearances and hope your cam caps are torqued down correctly.

As stated, the diagnostic block has to be jumped to set basic timing at 10 deg BTDC. When the jumper is removed, timing should advance to >12 deg BTDC.

Vacuum to the CC is controlled by the BVSV on the thermostat housing...coolant temp has to be above 129 deg F to open the vacuum path to the plenum.

The CPS has an internal seal...you will have to rebuild it to stop the leak:

Running a quart high (as shown on the dipstick) on oil is never a problem...in fact, it's a very good idea.

I have a vacuum leak somewhere and i can't seem to find it, everything is connected, but when ever i try to get to 1.5 rpm or a little above like 1.7k rpm and hold the gas pedal, the rpm down and raise back up and drop, but anything above 2k i dont have a problem, just between 1.5k to 2k.

Cps is not leaking from the inside, its leaking from where the cps connects to.. you know what i m saying ?? Everything inside the cps is clean, no oil or anything.

( i wont have a camera till friday or i would have taken a pic and showed ya.

might be a long shot but my heater control valve solenoid leaked in a manner that the solenoid let the vacum suck atomsphere air instead of dead heading it, could even hear it. so i just jumped it to the valve actuator itself

fonz - the way you posted it led me to believe oil was coming from the inside of the CPS. The o-ring is the only external seal that keeps oil from flowing around the hole in the head. Yours is either old or the wrong size. You can purchase some gasket material at a parts store and cut a gasket for around the CPS flange...that may help.

For the RPM surge - Have you checked for codes?

Yea i checked for codes and only code i m getting is code 22, and thats cause i broken that sensor.......yea and as for the o ring on the cps, i have two cps, and when i try the other Cps, it didn't leak oil and when i really push the car to like 3 k or 3.5 rpm and or when im doing a 50+ mph speed, it tends to leak. On both the Cps.

Did the CPS come with a gasket to install it with to the head ?? Just wondering.

Ill take pics of the CPS when i get my camera back.

fonz - we don't need pictures of a CPS o-ring...I know what it looks like, and I know what a leaking CPS looks like on the head. Tell you what...take your cheap ass down to the Toyota Dealer, make yourself take out your wallet, and buy a friggin o-ring. Jeez, it's just not that much!

No gasket is OEM for the outside...like I said, you have to buy (pull out your wallet again) a sheet of gasket material at the parts store to make your own.

Code 22 will put the ECU in fail-safe mode...the ECU will use a standard coolant temp for it's timing/fuel calculations. You need to fix it and do it right.

$30 bucks or so at autozone makes for a quick repair of the water temp sensor (ECU). not sure how much at the dealership.

yep thats the sensor, i didn't break the plug of the wiring harness but the actually sensor, when i went to install it, i kinda over torqued it and it broke. So whatever, ill just replace it, but i m putting away the car next week for the winter.

I found out couple of things wrong with my car today, first, my car is mis firing, i guess i used the wrong types of spark plugs so that will be replaced soon.
I got a small vacuum leak somewhere and yea............. life is great i guess.
With alot of 7m problems.
