Head gasket installation

Alright guys im having trouble figuring out how to PROPERLY install a metal head gasket. I know you just clean the block surface machine the head and block I have that done and out of my way but I already installed the rear timing cover that goes on the front of the engine. Do I put a little bit of gasket maker ontop of the block deck where the block and rear timing cover meet? Or just slap the headgasket like that and torque it down?

The rear timing cover should have been machined with block.

You can put a small dab right there if you want.

Look at the TSRM. Small dabs of RTV where you circled.

If that timing cover wasn't in place when it was machined you'll probably have a leak there no matter what. If it was machined, and is nice and flat, then the RTV should seal it nicely.

Thanks guys ill put that dab of rtv there, yea the front timing case was installed
