My 7mgt was smoking somewhat so i checked it out. Very little coolant, no leaks in the radiator (new Flyudine, if it makes a difference) just filled the radiator 4 days ago. So with that in mind im assuming coolant is leaking in and being burned. Smells sweet so yes smoke is coolant. Revd it a little bit and it just sprays out coolant!.. What gasket isnt right?.. manifold?.. i dont think its my head gasket(no oil leaking).. is it? Car also idles too beefy.

^ What he said. Most HG's blow because of heat, and usually between the cylinder and water jacket, so It's not very likely to leak oil.

This is my stock HG. It blew but never leaked any oil

Upgrade to a metal head gasket and arp's so you don't have to keep going back to him.

And be prepared to do have the block and head decked to meet the MHG's RA (smoothness) spec. ;)

^Do what he say's or prepare for a whole lotta hurt. If you don't want to spend all that money use a stock one but get the head checked for smoothness just in case. Also torque down to 72 ft/lb of torque;).

A stock HG is fine if prep'ed right and torqued to 70-75 ft/lbs (stock head bolts) per above. What is really important for a OEM HG is head deck flatness...you actually want a std machine finish on the deck for a composite HG to provide some "grip" vs the uber smooth surface for a MHG. I give an OEM HG a couple coats of copper spray to help the seal.

If you use ARP hardware, make very sure you read the instructions and use the torque spec ARP publishes.
