i have been having an issue starting my car the past few weeks. it acts like the battery is dead, but i had it along with the alternator checked and the were great. if you jump it, it starts right up. one of my friends said it could be the alarm system that is in it and im not sure what kind it is. the starter doesnt sound like it engages or attempt to turn over. the lights dim when it trys to start, also if the lights and/or AC is on it wont start and sometimes when you turn them all off it starts right up.

any help or pointers would be greatly appreciated

I had the same problem with my black Jap spec one when I was in Germany. I pulled out the alarm system and reconnected all of the wires the way they were from factory and it started right up every time after that. The alarm was disabling the starting of the car. It was a PITA to get it all rewired correct too but once it was done I never looked back.

What I would do is take it into a pro and let them remove the old system since you are wanting to keep the keyless stuff and have them install and new keyless entry. Don't half remove a system like that since it is tied into your fuel system along with a few others. All I did was find the box hidden near my ecu and follow the wires and reconnect them where they should have been. Most of the wires that were cut were still sitting in the stock location. I just had to cut, re-solder, and heat shrink them. It was very simple but with all the wire chasing and panel pulling....be prepared to be at it for at least a day or two unless you are damn good at installing alarms...lmao
