I read you were supposed to have them in one of the cooler areas of the engine, but the problem is... I have no space... and the greddy 15mm catch can is pretty massive. How bad is it if I stuff it away on the turbo side against the firewall as far away as I can get it? Whats the logic of needing to place it in a colder place? (not denying that you need to, just curious as to why)

Any input is appreciated, and of course if you have a catch can I would love to see where/how you mounted it and how you organized the lines.

Thanks in advance,
Jon

a quick search for "catch can" yeilded this thread:

which has this information in it:

i got a used Greddy oil catch can. it has two ports on the top of it. i got the pipe from my old N/A motor that connects the valve covers into one tube (had one already, but one came with the can), ran that to one nipple on the catch can, and the other over to the accordian pipe. that way there's vacuum to help pull the vapors to the can.

i mounted it near the brake booster, on the COLD side of the motor. the can stays way cooler than if it were mounted on the hot side, thus helping the oil and water vapors to condense.

along with this GIGANTIC picture:

put in a inline filter best thing you can ever do

Do you mean a line filter for compressed air systems? Hmmm....they trap very small particles, oil, and water. They don't cost too much either.

...and yes, you should try to put the catch can in a cooler place than just behind the exhaust manifold. There needs to be a decent temperature gradient for the oil/water to condense into the catch can.
