Have you been fired for Surfing

I was just reading another thread where Yellow 13 mentioned he stayed on Supramania all day at work.........and it hit me, I'm here to testify that he is correct. I'm here too, and I do remember once Yellow left to take a leak (3 weeks ago), but he was right back, and hasn't left since.

So, has anyone been fired from their job for surfing the web......with Bonus points for the offense being on a Supra site, and a gold star if it was Supramania.

I surf around at work on a lot of days, either my local racing board or this/sf. The computer I use at work has a webcam outside my little area so I can see whenever someone is walking in.

At my job I play counterstirke:source with my co workers, we also played starcraft once. Usually I just surf the internet or work on ym website. Sometimes I do some reading.

My job is a computer tech job on campus, so, maybe every other day i do no work and a lot of the time I wont even talk to my boss in an entire 8 hour shift. It's pretty chill. However, if I do get work I make sure to get it done.

If there is no work to be done, then I surf the net, they wont fire us for doing it, but if there is work that needs to get done and people are on the net. then yea, thats just being lazy.

I always have a ton of work to do, but I always make time for some surfing.... I can't work non-stop without goofing off for breaks. Of course, that could be why I'm at the office routinely past 7-8 at night, but I think that has more to do with the ton of work to do thing. :3d_frown:

I've gotten yelled at after my boss checked my history (stupid me) and saw that I'd been on here and about 7 of my other routinely visited car forums.

I didn't get in much trouble because I replied "Come on, it's cars. I know I'm not supposed to be "surfing" but, I have set destinations and I don't just float around the internet. You could be mad if it was porn..."
He just laughed and said "yeah, you're right... I guess there are worse things."
then told me to get out of his office :icon_razz

when i close Firefox, It deletes everything I've visited, so basicly it looks like it just was installed. and even better, most offices just check IE. so they see it and see that it hasnt been used for like ever and just pass it by.

I work in a garage but I was in the computer room the other day eating mcdonalds, on Ebay, typing on SM, and had AIMexpress open and my boss looks in and goes "uh... are you on break?" "yea...kinda" he just walked away confused because I didn't give him a straight answer haha.

I surf when I can at work, there is a huge shortage of educated workers in Alberta , so my boss does not hasle me at all.

I get caught all the time. LOL, my job has nothing to do with computers either, I just sit down at somone else's desk. When confronted by my boss I just simply say "what are you going to do about it?"
