Might be old news, but I was looking to replace my hood struts,, but the only thing Autozone had in stock was the hatch struts. Knowing how much these cost from Toyota, just thought I'd share that I found them and they have a universal-type of bracket that should make it a direct replacement for only $30 each.

About this product:
Part Number: C95880
Weight: 1.37 lbs.
Note: Hatch
2 required

Pricing:
$29.99

Autozone... I saw 'em at the store, but you can also get 'em online from them.

i paid about 20 each for each strut, replaced both hood and hatch struts (had both in stock, or could order them at the time)

Just a data point. My OEM hood struts lasted 16 years. My replacement ones that were "mighty lift" I think, lasted 2.5 years. You get what you pay for as they say.

I just remember seeing threads awhile back when there weren't any aftermarket options... $140 each from Toyota is about as painful as when the hatch comes down on your head ;-)

Anyone know where I can get some for my hood? Freakin' Mighty-Lifts say Lifetime guarantee, but they have never replaced any of 'em that went bad on me. They've only lasted a few years as well.

Originally went with Mighty Lifts 'cause they say lifetime guarantee... Gonna have to see if I can get them to honor it. I don't think Toyota offers lifetime guarantee, but theirs are about $70 ea. from one of the forum sponsors.

i've got about three years on mine and am noticing a bit of wear on them. seems like one is weaker than the other in both the hood and hatch pair.

I got all mine off e-bay. I don't expect them to last as long as OEM, so I went cheap. The hood struts are awesome - very strong, lifts the hood with great ease. The hatch, not so good. It takes a bit of muscle to open the hatch. I've had them all one year. Have not noticed any wear yet.
