Specifically the HKS dp has anyone lowered their supra and had this dp and scraped it? I want to know because I have money for the HKS dp and I was thinking about getting it.

do you mean scrape? Of course, those HKS DP's are low as shit. you can see it from the side of the car. I always scrape if i don't go slow or diagonally up a driveway or speedbump. btw, i'm only on tokico blues and eibach pro kits.

Most lowered MK3's and any other car this low for that matter, will have scrapes from speed bumps, entry ramps and other stuff that is built for higher vehicles.

This is why I totally reccomend having a flexable section in whatever DP you use or make.

Think about this.

Every time it scrapes, with a fixed pipe, it is like throwing a long breaker bar on there, and putting the weight of your car on it.. The loads to the turbo/exhaust manifold/head are huge! No wonder so many people complain of cracked housings, manifolds, and loose head studs.

Age and wear is part of the deal, but fixed DP's do not help in any way to keep your engine problem free.

That being said, the HKS DP is a poor design. It is necked down, and does not flow as well as others out there, and it does not include the exhaust housing like some do. (BIC's for example is one of the better flowing designs out there due to the divorced waste gate pipe, even if you route it back into the pipe later, it flows better due to less turbulence at the turbo exit point.)

But I would get his with flex added into the design. (More money, but less problems later on...)

Good luck.

i never scraped until i lowerd mine. i wasn't able to go over speed bumps anymore. i used Eibachs and KYB rears with stock front struts. it was just too bouncy and loose when driving.

My car is lowered and iv'e scraped the dp. Its a bit flattened out on the bottom of the dp in one place. Its a mild drop too. Sawbladz is lower than mine so i believe what he's saying lol

I agree with all of the info, because it is correct. I don't go all the way on the opinion because a comparison is relative. My HKS downpipe responds far faster than the stock pipe. Is it the best, absolutely not.

And it doesn't scrape either. Nor does it hang lower. It is installed wrong, lowered, worn engine mounts, something else is causing it.

See this kinda sucks because I live in speed bump city. I have to go through high speed bumps and ramps everyday just to get home...

What do you think of the TMS divorced dp with the flex section?

Like everyone else, I'll chime in on saying that my HKS DP would catch on a few big speed bumps at stock ride height....But after dropping the car with a stiff suspension, there's almost always a "CHRRR" sound of concrete vs. metal pipe underneath my car when going over speedbumps. ;)
