My welder takes a crap.

I don't believe my welder created this problem, I think the wire was bad by the end.

The last bit of wire snapped right after the drive motor, and is now stuck in the liner.
Guess I'll have to take it apart to get it out. **siiiigh**

Here is the only progress I made.

what i always do when that happens is try and get a small piece of wire and push it thru somehow. maybe you can use the motor to feed thru some more if its stuck way up the liner.

also, im guessing thats the ct26 flange? where did you pick that up?

I tried that already... and it jammed even further... :(

Nah, it's a T4 flange.

I'm making a riser for my new turbo.

Brent: Try unscrewing the contact tip and pull it out.

Sometimes the wire welds to the tip.
Ian: After the spool ran out, I did the routine procedure and pulled the old wire out. Then when I went to re-enter the new spool, I noticed a little bit of wire sticking out of the liner entrance. Tried to pull it out, but it just broke further.

I think my only option left is to take it apart to try and clean it out somehow.

if there's no wire sticking out of ether end and pushing it with more wire created a bigger problem, then you're screwed. you need to buy a new liner. go to a welding supply store, buy a liner, and ask how to change it.

this is why i hate mig welding. the welds don't look very good, not as strong as other methods, and it's problematic. go tig and you'll never go back. (unless you have to. )

oh, well yes, that would case this to happen. mixing metals doesn't work, as proven time and time again by most motors with an iron block and aluminum head combo.

Nope, no aluminum.

This welder has never seen different filler wire.

I think I'll take it out and see if I can "get a grip" on any bit sticking out once off the machine. Then I'll I just replace it.
Thanks for the advice, gang.

Since we're on the topic of mig.. I got this Clarke Hot Shot welder and it's awesome! I have yet to birdsnest it yet. Instead of having the wire feeder in the unit it works like a spool gun, but its only 120v! So far I'm really loving it for flux and aluminum.. and I don't even have to switch out the liner it says (not steel liner, not tephlon.. its just like a ruber tube?) This thing is impossible to birds next, I was welding aluminum on the wrong polarity with the WFS way too low and I didn't even blow the contact tip.

Just thought I'd show you guys who say it cost a lot to mig aluminum... this welder + some argon and it's doing the job.

Brent, to get it out try coiling up the liner to force out either end of the wire.. if it comes out then grab it with the pliers and straighten the liner back out as you will not be able to get it out coiled.
