Well, I just installed a set of HID lights. After the install the HID lights work, but my fog lights do not.

I thought maybe my fog lights were damaged, so I installed my fog lights on my friends supra and they fired up!

When I installed the HID lights, I had to re-wire the stock harness for the HID kit. I figure this is where the problem is. :icon_conf

Besides the fogs not working, the high on the HID kit do not function properly and seem to dim.

After the fun of not getting my fogs to work, I tried to use some regular Hella H4 bulbs in case the HID kit was to blame, but they had the same symptoms as the HID kit.

I checked the wiring diagram on TSRM, the writing on there is so small, I couldn't tell what I was looking at:icon_evil Oh yeah that's after zoom too.

I also checked the ground and power from the car to the stock harness with my voltmeter. The power never changes to different spades on the stock harness, when I switch from Hi to Low beams, I'm stumped.

You are right. I could do the foglight rewire, but I think I am bypassing something I did incorrectly. The hi on both the HID kit and Hella H4 dim and do not power fully :dunno:

The HID kit is Pilot. I've tested the kit on a 1991 Nissan pickup that utilizes the same conversion kit and it worked flawlessly with the hi and low, so I assume I'm doing something incorrectly.

can you show me a wiring diagram or a pic of the kit?

if it's like mine, you won't have a high beam indicator, and the fog lamps won't work because there isn't enough resistance to complete the circuit and throw the relay for the fogs...

you're not bypassing anything you did wrong, it's a known issue...

lol... bixenon kit? if so they should work since theres 3 wires just like our stock. if its just low beam the high beams wont work and fogs wont work

You need to do the fog light rewire. I ran into the same problem when I installed mine.

The problem is that the fogs won't turn on unless the headlights are on and in the low beam setting. Get that 12v signal from somewhere other than the headlights and the problems go away.

If thats the case (and it probably is) then tapping from another 12V source will still cause the circuit to think that there is no headlamp working..unless you keep the halogen bulbs plugged in right?

I think a resistor might be needed to fool the circuit into thinking there is a halogen plugged in. Or jsut do the re-wire..which is what im gonna do.

The only remaining issue is the high beam indicator on the dash, and yes, I think a simple resistor would solve that.

The foglight rewire doesn't actually change where the fogs get their power from - just where they get their signal from.

grim: since one of my HID's burned out *grumble* I'm running a normal bulb in there on one (passenger side as the kit doesn't even use the plug)

high beam indicator works, so a simple resistor in it's place would work...
