H4 Headlights?

i have done the h4 conversion on mine they look good they are alot brighter and if you have the clear turn signals then they look real good i dont yet have a camera for a pic but when i get one i will send some pics
the hella H4 conversion kit is amazing. much better. plus, a waaay better variety of bulb choices/colors/so forth... i have a set of silverstar h4's in there now, and a set of yellow bulbs for the hell of it, because they were free...

I did the Hella H4 back in the day and on my current car. Huge improvement on vision, mostly cuz the bulbs. I'm sure they are alot better than the ebay cheapies but either way will be better than stock bulbs. I used raybrig lights. Kinda hard to tell, but they are much brighter even in this day shot.

Whats the difference (besides removable bulb) between H3 and H4's? I'm running the
Silvania ullta white silverstar H3's and they are bright and white. I can't imagine running anything brighter or whiter. I suppose the changing of the bulb element is an advantage if you want the purple tint or whatever color but if white is your preference I think your better off with the H3's because when they burn out you get a whole new glass casing (lens).
If I'm off the mark here please fill me in. :icon_conf

Jap MA70's come with H4's 
H3 are single element globes (high beam) H4 are dual element, one with a block out for the upper part of the beam (high and low)

I was looking to get one of the ebay H4 diamond cut headlight conversion kits which go $30 total for both. Theres been more complaints than praise about them, especially bad glare, and they have a bad cutoff so im going Hellas. Depending on how much you want to spend, you can get a wide variety of quality
-Ebays I hear are ok for the price ($30).

-Best bang for your buck (ive read from SF member "GBell210") are Hella's and they start at $85 and go to $100 depending on bulbs you want.

Ive switched my interest from ebay ones and going to go with the Hellas, since theyre one of the best if not the best one, and then I wont have to worry about upgrading anymore. Id say just save up and get the hellas

my '94 toyota pickup uses the same lights as our mkiii's. i bought sylvania silverstar sealed beams for the pickup over a month ago. they give a MUCH whiter light than stock. (stock for the mkiii, and the pickup) they're $19.xx/ea. at autozone.
that being said, i'll probably be getting the hella kit for the supra.

I do not plan to go HID (I'm too practical). However, I have just about anything else I want and the GF wants an X-Mas list. The only things I can think of are some brighter-than-stock lights, as well as a few other goodies.
Yep, I'm one of those hard to shop for ppl who already have whatever they want... Anyways, I'll be okay with the Sylvania stock replacements and don't see any reason for more than that, but without comparing things, will I really be okay? ;-)

The drop in Sylvania Silver Star sealed beam units will be a good upgrade, they will just not be as bright as if you got new housings and the H4 bulbs. If you get H4 style housings you will have a greater selection of bulb style/brand/color etc. The H4 bulb itself is a brighter element than what is in the sealed beam, it is just more expensive. The light pattern of the aftermarket housings make the biggest improvement of anything, really. Just stay away from the "diamond cut" style; the regular cut lenses are the way to go.
Best choice (in my opinion) is really to get some "Euro" H4 housings, such as autopal, bosch, hella, or cibie; anything with an "E-Code" beam pattern. This will give a nice even beam with no real hotspots, and a sharp cutoff line. Of course your choice of bulbs as well.
I'm with spipedong. HIDs really are the way to go, they beat all the other options like a read headed stepchild. This is the route I will be going on my car eventually, currently I run E-code Hella housings & bulbs.
I would recomend going with HID even though they're expensive. I bought some from brightheadlights.com and they're amazing. I have silverstar foglights and the color and intensity isn't even close to the HIDs. I get a lot of looks from people on the street at night because they see you coming down the road and expect to see a new Mercedeze or BMW but its an 80's japaneese car. they're awesome. Also, I'm very suspicious of Hella kits (and most others on ebay) because their discriptions throw the word Xenon around like its nothing. First, real xenon HID bulbs cost around $150 each, so I wouldn't trust buying a Hella kit that claims to come with xenon bulbs for less than $100. Second you can't just replace a normal H4 bulb with a HID. They work differently (filiment vs. charged gas) and real HIDs use less power, so they would most likely blow out without modifactions that cost more than $100. Sigh... There, I said it. Anyway, I'd go with HID if your willing to pay.
