While I know that this really belongs in the buyer/seller feedback thread, I think I need this to be posted here because of the lack of volume in that forum. Admis, please have a heart & allow it to stick around for a while.

I just made a major purchase for my car online. Before you ask, I'd rather not say what it is unless it becomes an issue. Anyhow, I couldn't get in touch with the seller for a week after I paid for the item through paypal. I thought I was scammed, so I filed a claim, thus freezing his account. Naturally, this pissed him off, and he contacted me.

He said that he had already shipped the motor & has a reciept for it, yet the shipment isn't trackable. He thinks that I scammed him by cancelling payment after he shipped the package. He said that he will reverse the shipment if I don't release the claim immediately. As I explained to him, if I do cancel the claim, I can not file another claim for any reason what so ever with Paypal.

If you are one of the many people that I have bought from or sold to, please give your honest feedback on your thoughts of the transaction. And please keep the horse play to a minimum, I'm forwarding a direct link of this thread to the seller.

As an aside, Ted Schmidt, this is in fact Mark Lowe. Do what you wish with the package, but this thread should end your thoughts that I'm scamming you. If I receive a package that has what I paid for in it, I will sign the bill of laden and that will be your proof to Paypal that you're intitled to your money.

Well his first mistake was being unreachable for a week after you paid it, UNLESS he clearly stated somewhere in the sale ad that he would be unreachable for whatever reason for a week after the sale ended. Because you didn't post about what kind of item it is, just keep this in mind, there are probably more of those items out there with sellers more eager to get them off their hands. This guy obviously doesn't care too much about selling it since it took a claim against him to talk.

^^^^My point(s) exactly^^^^

The guy continues to make threats about turning the shipment around unless I release the claim, yet he won't offer me any proof what so ever that he did ship the item. He must think that I'm either the biggest dumbass or the biggest prick in the world. Maybe both, actually.

In my own experience with paypal and filing claims. I have had the same problem as u, and i did file a claim once I received the item in question, i then released the claim as satisfactorily resolved with seller.

It is your right to file a claim if you feel u are unfairly treated/ignored by a seller, that is why it is there.

You could also show that the seller has threatened you.... u will only ruin his reputation not yours. He must submit proof that item has been shipped to you.

you did the right thing.

Did you get the motor at like an amazing price? If not, then I would just let him reverse shipment of a supposedly shipped item.

Good luck man.

he can go ahead and call you whatever he wants.. just don't get scammed..If he really shipped it out why wouldn't he show you some proof, doesn't he want your money?

dont release the claim hold out and see what happens. chances are no thing was shipped and hes sweating it now.

its both of your fault though having something sent with no proof of sending. too little to late i know but always always insure or at least do delivery confirmation its only like a buck with the PO.

save ALL emails though paypal will want them for sure.

even a cash register receipt would be enough proof at this point. or if he shipped using a bank/credit card hed have proof there too. if its a motor i cant imagine a freight company shipping something that big with no tracking/proof.

How is it my fault? The item has a bill of laden, as it's freight. Federal requires ALL freight to have a bill of laden.

Paypal requires the sender to provide a means of tracking the package online.

I didn't say it was a motor, that was interjected by another member. It is freight, therefore it has to have a bill of laden number. I shouldn't have to demand that he get a tracking number, he will have one due to the law.

Regardless, this thread isn't about the ins and outs of shipping. If I bought, sold or just plain gave you something, please speak up.

I would not cancel the dispute at all. The fact he would not even respond to you until the dispute was filed speaks to his credibility.

Personally I wouldn't even do business with said individual. If the package arives, sign for it and cancel the dispute. If not escalate the dispute and don't sweat it.

When there is a Merchant - Buyer dispute the RESPONSIBILITY should always be on the Merchant. Above all they are the ones that should act in a more ethical and professional manner because they should be trying to run a legit business. If anyone has to prove anything it's always the Merchant.

(by the way I'm a merchant myself - I make a living selling products online and would never give such poor service to my customers)

That's just it, I've told the seller over & over that when I sign the bill of laden, he only needs to turn that over to Paypal & the claim is over, it's his money even if I didn't voluntarily release the claim. He is in no danger what so ever, yet he continues to threaten me as if he is.

I think I'm lucky that I filed a claim as soon as I did, I don't think he withdrew the money I had sent to him yet, so it makes recovering my money much, much easier if I am being scammed.

Ive done quite a bit of business with mark. I bought my motor thats in my supra from him. great guy to work with, he even offered to drive a hour to help me put it in free of charge. Since then ive been in contact with mark constantly. Mark even gave me free of charge many parts that he didnt want laying around anymore.
Great guy, and completely honest to his word. I would do business with him over and over again.
