Ace was a hell of a guitarist. There are tons of underrated guys out there.
Look at Alex Lifeston from Rush, that man can seriously make a guitar sing.
Absolutely. Rush needed something awesome, because Geddy Lee's voice could DRIVE the mice away as sure as the Pied Piper would LEAD them away. His voice is the only reason I can't listen to Rush for very long.
I'd give a nod to Slash. His guitar solos in November Rain alone were great, let alone the rest of the GnR stash that came before then. I'd like to see Slash do some solo guitar work. No lyrics, no BS, just music.
I like Satriani's talent, but not his style. It just doesn't strike me.
On the topic of "guitar gods", I think it was pretty disgraceful a few years ago to see, I believe it was an issue of "Rolling Stone", where they were doing a list of this type, among other greats like Hendrix and Clapton, HIGH up on the list was Jack White from The White Stripes! I'm sorry, but the guy doesn't even deserve to kiss the ground that Hendrix walked on.
