I found some pics that show what some gauges look like by the top of the windshield.

I have to agree with others, though. Having your gauges around eye level is much more practical than putting the gauges up there.

ok i love the a-pillars there sick but i want something diffrent so i was thinking of taking a 3 gauge holder like on a 350z and fliping it and placing it were the light is on the roof would be alot of extra wiring but when the targa would be of it that thing would be sick.

so what do yall think has it been done ?
bad idea ?

...Fuck it....

Ahh, ok.

I thought about doing this with a few of my gauges. I was going to build a pod and put it where my mirror was, easy task since my mirror is no longer there.

The wiring issue aside, I thought of two problems. One has already been stated, you have to take your eyes off the road. The second problem is when the sun shines in with the targa off, it would create some nasty reflections.

Personal opinion:

I think it's too damn close to my head to be usable. If you want to do it to have some pretty dials for someone in the passenger seat to watch, or for pure rice-boy style with the targa off, then that's fine, but I certainly wouldn't put any gauges that I intend on USING while driving there. Heck, I think that the top pod in my double A pillar pod isn't really all that useful (Though it might be okay for something like a gauge style boost controller)

I like my eyes on the road while driving, particularly if it's "spirited" driving, so I like the needed instruments to be as close to my line of vision as possible. I'll settle for the stock tach location, because it's stock. If I'm going to ADD insrumentation that I may actually want to monitor, though, it's got to be easy to see while I'm paying most of my attnetion to the road though.

Interior pics of the cups fitted. I love it. The rear view fits fine and doesn't interfere with the view.

I think i will agree with others about being a distraction when looking up then a quick glance to the left or right. Personally i wouldn't put it there.
