I am looking into a lower ride hight and stiffer set up for as cheap as possible.....

(I currently run KYB GR2's and H/R lowering springs)

I have a buddy with ground control coilover converters on Toki illum's He loves em.... (nice stance and stiff enough)

Now i was wondering if i could Ground controls on my GR2's????

I think the GR2's might be too soft...

Anyone have any other suggestions or comments???

I think the KYB would go out quick with the GC. Also I don't think GC currently makes a set up for the MK3. But GC stuff is really good if you get a good set up shocks like bilstein. Best thing to do is save up for a decent coilover set up.

Bilstien's don't like lowering much. I have them, with a set of springs and sleves from TIP Engineering. I can get it down to about 2 1/2" of gap between the tire(245/45/17) and the fender.

Handles very nicely, though :naughty:

935 motorsports sells the GC's for the A70...
https://935motorsports.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=1205

I even called Robert that works there and he said you can order certain spring rates F/R but he didnt recommend i go Ground Control on the GR2's:(...

He also said the GC is really only good for ride hight and they dont improve handling much...

I figure if i decide to go GC i will end up spending near the same price i would for a set of used coilovers!!!

Do you guy's think i would get nice results by just getting ST sway bars for now???

My biggest problem is the body roll!!!

If money is your issue get sways then. I would almost never buy used coils unless i knew the history of them, since cheaper used coils tend to be blown or get blown fast.

Ground Contols are awesome coilovers especially when combined with koni yellows. The off the shelf spring rates for them are pretty soft for comfort but still kinda sporty. If you want better handling, get custom spring rates. But the rates you need are up to you.

Tein HA (discontinued) Set at the lowest at the rear and almost lowest in front. I think tien flex's are basically the same though.

Talkin spring rates....

The A70 uses around 650/325 right???

What would be the stiffest i could go on a AGX/tokico blue/bilstien/ ect. strut
(If that makes any sense....)

I don't know if this is ontopic, but it seems the thread is heading that direction anyway...

Is the "stiffest" spring rate really the best? I've always thought that too stiff would not keep the wheels grounded, and too soft would of course, bottom out?

My biggest problem is the body roll!!!

You are using really soft shocks, so that is to be expected.

I have seen a few people upgrade the swaybars BEFORE the shocks and were pleased with the results. However, people do not usually go in that order.

In your situation I would go bilstein. This will offer stiffer shocks AND minor height adjustment.

You know...those KYB's have a lifetime warranty...in case they (for some unknown reason) were to blow out.

If they were to blow out with the ground conrol springs you could get them replaced. The warranty says "repair or replace" but considering they're not very expensive, I would speculate that whoever you bought them from would opt to replace them, in which case you wouldn't even have to wait for them to be repaired.

I had gr-2's for about a year and mine lasted just fine (I've still got 'em in the garage in their original boxes, just in case). I've heard of other people blowing them out, but mine felt like new after a year with no leaks.

Honestly, I'm thinking of putting them back on and shelving my Koni yellows because the ride quality is a lot better on the KYB's plus the fact that they're softer (which works alot better for drag-racing).
