heh. cars always run better just before they blow up. advancing the timing is fine @ low boost levels and low power levels. but as you go up in boost level, you need to REDUCE timing (especially on pump gas) to prevent detonation.

don't forget that AFM scaling messes w/timing as well....i.e. you "lean it out" via SAFC/eman/etc. you are INCREASING timing.

Okay gotcha. They mentioned that or atleast Eric Z. did when we were doing it. Since my settings are set to low boost of 14.5 because the hi of 18 keeps hitting what I think is fuel cut I'm just using low. But once I go hi he says that the timing needs to be reduced. Some cars even go below 10 if they have too much power and run HI boost. Also the gauge shows rich rather than lean so increasing timing should be okay. Thanks

Thanks Eric I found the old post on TSC. I just spoke with Mike at Precision on Eglington and he says that he can rework the existing tranny if I drove it up there and left it for a week for $2500. He's busy right now and I can't go up now anyways but from what he tells me Keith used to go through trannys like crazy due to putting down 450 to the wheels but now has no trouble. So I think I'll call him in the spring and set up an appointment.

What turbo is Keith running do you know? Also Emanage or AEM ems? Just curious. If you don't know do you know Keiths screen name on the TSC? I can just send him an email. Thanks again.

Keith isn't online, and keith is a funny charactor, i only know what he has because i've worked on his car. He's got a T66 now, and is running an emanage i setup for him..... So far so good. He's claimed to do 10.86 but i've never seen it but then again i never go to the track... If you go to a CSCS event i'm sure he'll be there.

it's not that simple though, your tuner should know where he can add and remove timing. It's not linier, it's continually adjusting to the stock map which who knows what that is. Only mk4's with the techtom reader can see timing, otherwise you need the OBD2 reader and ecu.

Thats why AEM's are so great but of coruse it all depends on the tuner at that point.

werd. it is complex....far more than "you can bump up timing to make it run better".

don't forget the MAFT pro can read and adjust timing....the only device out there for the 7M AFAIK.

and for clarification, that's an OBD2 compliant ECU. which was never offered for the MKIII.

Becuase he did not install bigger injectors.

I had 550's with my TD06 kit. I had to run 55PSI due to me using an FMU style FPR.

I loved it, and I still think the TD06 has more than 360RWHP. How's the condition of the turbo?
