Greddy oil adapter for pressure gauge?

Hey all,

I'm planning on purchasing the Greddy oil filter adapter for a pressure gauge and installing it ASAP when I next change the oil. I don't really trust the factory gauge and I figure its better to be safe than sorry. I just wanted to check here and see if anyone else is using it and whether or not they have any tips/issues/complaints - I searched but didn't find anything.

Found this pic of the installation, I've never done any sort of electrical work or gauge installation so how do you run the wires into the cabin? And where did you draw power from for the gauge? Thanks and much appreciated.

You mostly wont be able to squeeze a sandwich plate and filter with the subframe in the way. That is assuming you havent installed an oil filter relocation kit yet.

As for wiring you can drill a hole in the firewall next to the brakebooster or cut a slit in the boot for the engine harness and feed it through there. As for power I always pull power from the ignition when I wire up gauges. You can pull power from any wire that has 12V thats controlled by the ignition switch(stereo).

Hmmm...interesting. No I haven't installed a relocation kit, I didn't think it necessary in order to do this. There isn't anything in the product description about that being required, but thats why I posted up here I guess, to find any tips/tricks to get this to work. It says its specifically for the 7M-GTE, you think they wouldn't require you to modify the location of the filter?

Well, I don't know how thick that Greddy is because I would never pay that for an adapter but I run a Permacool sandwich and have plenty of room down there. That said I don't use it for an oil pressure gage because imo there's nothing wrong with the stock one. It's worked fine for 21 years although I did calibrate it at one time. Wasn't far off.

Thanks for the input Jetjock. I don't trust my factory gauge as it has sat on 0 while cruising down the highway before, then it'll fluctuate and usually it shows the low-pressure idle setting to be off by a lot. My motor seems to be running fine so I'm guessing the sending unit is on its way out.

OK, I started this thread for an answer that I have yet to definitively receive. Will the Greddy adapter work, or will it not? I'm having a hard time believing that a product specifically marketed for the 7M-GTE would require extra parts to work correctly, when said parts aren't mentioned.

Can I buy this product, and install it on my car???? Thanks.

Funny, I have been wandering the same thing! I was going to use this adaptor plate though! http://prosportgauges.com/oil-filter-adaptor-plate.aspx

I'm not so sure that it will fit properly. It looks like the oil filter will hit the motor mounts if these plates are used.

My other question.

Is there a adaptor fitting that would allow the aftermarket sender to be used in the stock sender location?

Could I tap the stock guage into the aftermarket sender?
