Your 88 doesn't need one. None of them do, including the ones I owned.

The 87 and 88 cars tested hit a wall at 156, which coincendentally, is how fast Toyota said the 87 turbo could go, even though it couldn't pull above 145 stock.

156 is not fuel cut in a 3.91 car and R154 trans car. A Cartech test car for example did it. It went right up to 156 and no more.
