Damn thing kinks so easily.

Went to prime the new turbo with oil after having just installed my Walbro while having it jumped from my truck to keep the battery from going dead from cranking it. Put the EFI fuse back in, no start  Check under the car and hurray gas on the ground! At least I know I wired and installed the pump correctly, there was a lot of gas from just simply cranking it :3d_frown:

Time to either drop it again. Either going to cut the hard line straight before the kink and a little bit further and get a rubber fuel hose from Delta rubber, or spend the $80 to get an entire new assembly from Toyota... Woooooo. :icon_roll

im in the same situation as you are except i didnt put the tank back up yet i kinked it while trying to loosen it.....im most likely going to cut it before the kink and give the rubber fuel hose a shot.

Or, you could put in a braided stainless hose. This cost less than $45 bucks.

(it is a -6 to 1/4 npt elbow threaded into the a hole drilled where the hardline used to pass through. I bored the NPT end of the fitting and brazed the old hard line into the elbow.

I was thinking about that. Did you weld a bung or whatever on the assembly side? Does the other end go into the stock fuel filter rubber line?

EDIT: Wow I just completely overlooked the second line of text in your post... haha. My mind is on the stupid black widows that made a habit of nesting in my rear passenger wheel well..

i would think of saftey and effort in doing it again cause the shit hose you used failed 2 years latter..

worst case it fails on the next owner in his driveway and not while he's driving..

i do like how you did the braided set up.

im doing the same thing but i didn't crimp the old line so im having a facotory line made in ss braided flex line..

Same happened to me, I put rubber fuel hose on and pushed it about 6 - 8" up the pipe and then put 3 clips about 2" appart to make sure it doesn't leak. The rubber fuel hose I used is rated to 8 bar so the pump will run out of capacity befor the pipe bursts.

LOL if you think that shit is going to work in some place like here in central NY.

If one of you is going to use rubber hose they do sell a HIGH pressure rubber hose for fuel and I would recommend using it. I have seen that low pressure hose dry out and crack after just a few years but the high pressure has been A-OK for many. hope this may help some.

I ended up buying a high pressure rubber line. Put two clamps on each side as an extra safety measure. Just came back from the gas station. That Walbro whine is relatively loud.

I dread the Walbro whine. Mine goes in in the spring and I hope it doesn't piss me off too much.

Rubber high pressure fuel line will be fine if that's the way you want to fix it.
In the purist sense it's not ideal but in practicality it will work out fine. It will not burst from pressure or harden in a year (assuming you use good quality high pressure hose).

As far as walbro fuel pumps go, yeah they deliver the fuel but are very loud for everyday use. I had one and took it out because of the noise.

I now use the stock pump with an external electric pump that I switch on only at the strip. No fuel starvation or delivery issues whatsoever.

Yeah, the noise doesn't bug me to that extent, haha.

I test drove it some more last night for about 25 minutes. Twenty of those minutes were spent being scared to punch it. I am going into unknown power territory with this 57 trim.

Of course after I punched it, I blew the 90 degree hose behind the head.
