I was on my way back home at approx. 2:45 am and had my cruise control set at 59 in a 55 on the interstate and notice 4 cop cars and 1 state trooper had a car pulled over............so I said to myself, "hope they keep the speeders and DUIs off the road to make it safe for everyone". Minding my own business I kept on and shortly after I noticed one set of lights started moving and manevuring to get behind me......so to confirm who he was after I moved over one lane and sure enough he moved over too.....my girl then said, 'he's after us, time to pull over', which we did.

This guy was the state trooper, who said I was speeding and demanded my license and registration. I obliged and he warned me that I was being taped and recorded. He took what seemed like forever in his car and by that time 2 other county cars came up to offer 'support'. Then he came back and gave me a warning ticket :icon_bigg which I was very greatful for. I asked him how much he clocked me at and he said I was doing 70! :aigo: I can't believe it!?!

Can someone tell me how much my speedo will be off with the 19s on my car? I still can't believe I was clocked at 70. He said his laser was accurate, however that's like 11miles faster than my speedo.

  • Fronts: 225/40 19
  • Rears:*245/40 19

What's also good, for some reason I did not drink on Satruday night! ;)

-Oh, and how long does the warning stay in effect? lol

Ya you could have been doing 70 ish. I can't find the speed table and reference to aftermarket tire size, but you would be amazed at the difference.

Put it this way my CTS-V has a OEM tire size 245-45-18 I put on 255-40-18 tires and my speed by GPS was 75 when my speedo was showing 70!!!

So just think of going from 16" to 19" and what a difference it will have ;)

Same thing happened to me about 2 weeks ago. I got pulled over for doing 59 in a 40!!!

My tire are almost the same size too. hah

Ive got front: 225/35/19
Rear: 235/45/19

something like that anyways.

But yea I couldnt believe the cop clocked me going that much over either. 187$ ticket. I was....PISSED.

hmm that sucks good thing you got away with a warning and i don't believe that anything happens when you get a warning

Maybe it is just put in the computer so they know but thats about it i would assume.

Instead of guessing, get a GPS and confirm it.

My 4Runner says I'm doing 110, but my GPS says I'm doing 102. And it's bone stock. I'm replacing the tires and getting a slightly taller tire, so it'll help a tiny bit but i'll still keep the GPS handy to check once and a while.

My 89's speedo is bang on oddly enough.

Thanks. I don't have a GPS, but I think my sis may have one so i'll check it and report back here.

Believe it or not it goes in the computer and stays there for a year. If you happen to get pulled over again before that year is up, they can write you 2 tickets...OR write you a ticket for speeding and add some kind of penalty charge on it.
