The turbo is rated up to about 450hp..... My clutch is a spec stage 1 and it is rated up to 400 ft lbs of torque so thats what im shooting for. That should be the weak point of the car right now. Engine was rebuilt stock about 15k miles ago with arp head bolts on toyota gasket. My future plans are to get it up to a reliable 500 hp... shouldnt be too hard.

But im plannin on tuning it to about 375-400hp...

Still gotta make some charge pipes etc while i got the turbo apart... got a welder last week too :)

Smooth looking car, man. I'm glad you had support mods before upgrading the turbo (not the other way around, like I've seen). I'm not too sure about your hg. Hope it holds. Anyways, let us know about your experience with the turbo, what you like abt it, and what you don't.

Those LIPP stainless housings are very nice.

Too bad we can't get them to start producing a range of T4 based hot sides, and some CHRA's in stainless while they are at it.... (no rust, and stronger metal.)

If anyone is reading, I'd like a T4 based stainless housing, no waste gate thank you very much. (.85AR too, and make them compatable with GT based CHRA/Compressor's etc.)

Something like the FP30 that is so popular for the DSM guys, but make it a LIPPGT4088 stainless exhaust housing..... The ultimate upgrade, just buy your own Ebay manifold, and wastegate of your choice, and your good to go with no rust on the hot side.

well i got out in the garage and started wrenching. Everything came off smooth... took the exhaust mani off and gonna do some port matching to the new turbo exh. inlet.

you are right the lipp housings are amazing. Excellent quality.

Bought the turbo from horsepowerfreaks... used the change saved up from my messenger job over year and a half and bought it... they are charging around 1250 for them.

Oh ... and the headgasket... when i had the motor rebuilt i wasnt expecting these mods so soon... otherwise i would have.. Well see if it holds... if not maybe the engine is next while i got it apart... muhahah

more pics... not very exciting but not bad for 2 hours work... heh hopefully this will be the last turbo i put on for a while...

Your car and turbo look amazing. I know this is OT, but your car is my favorite pre-89 that I've seen, especially since you're silver like me, and you have the MK4 wheels I've been dying to get. Keep up the good work.

Well i sorted out some problems and got everything fitted up today. Started the beast and everything sounds and looks good... just a couple of questions...

Anyone know how to adjust the adjustable wastegate on the LIPP/BOSS turbo? There is an nut on the wastegate shaft and when you tighten it towards the exhaust side it just stops when it gets to the bigger part of the shaft... do i need to loosen the nuts holding the wastegate actuator?

Also is there any kind of break in period for a turbo?

Well i got the LIPP/BOSS to4E 54 on the car, made some 2.5 inch hardpipes and started it up today. Sounded and ran good, but split the accordian hose putting it on, and had to make another coupler fit so there is a 2.5 inch bottle neck between the accordian hose and the turbo inlet. Took the car around the block a few times.. and felt real good. Much better throttle response over the stock pipes, but it was raining really bad today and if i even put the throttle half down it would break the tires loose... felt pretty strong.

Gonna adjust the boost tonight or tomorrow morning and hope for drier weather. Also am gonna make a custom "accordian hose"... before i go to the dyno...

Notice the afm... i rotated it to get the filter to point in the direction i wanted... will this have any effect on the afm? Its upside down... seeing as there is no flap or moving parts i didnt think it would affect it..
