Well the local festival brought in some peeps to the town allong with a trailered dyno so i hit it this weekend just before i threw on some mods to get a baseline and well, im prety disapointed with my numbers but everyone else was impressed with what my little mods did.

anyway happy to report the car ran smooth as hell all the way to 6100 rpms with not smoke until i let off.

mods. K&N fipk, 3'' cooleeze, 7psi/stock boost Stock catback exhaust.
208 rwhp 236 rwtq.

disapointed with hp, torque is ok with me stayed up there accross the board.

assuming my passport g-meter was fairly accurate i went from 190 rwhp to 208 with just these mods. I would have been better had i dynoed at the coast, instead of in 80+ degree weather in the dessert at like 1000+ ft above sea level, but meh,

next week, ddp, 3'' piping, blitz muffler, and 12psi. just hope i can find a dyno soon so i dont have to wait for pacnw supra meet to dyno.
i really want to see the difference between the standard cooleeze and the ddp to end the bench racing on my own.

Any input, this seem normal? should i have gotten more hp? i was fairly embarassed sittin on the dyno when i was told infront of everyone that i only hit 208 and the mx3 before me did 210.

Yeah that sounds about right. The thing most people don't realize is that a stock supra only puts about 180hp to the wheels on a 5-speed a little less with an auto. So with your mods that sounds about right.

i dunno, i was a bit overzelous (<- lay off on spelling) i figured SOMETHING in the teens, but now i know where i stand atleast. boost didnt feel like it should, i reached 7 when i've maxed out the guage on the coast before.

I come from a land down under
AJ: Most production cars tend to "Open the Taps" after 75% throttle for self preservation (They go full rich)

Not the best scenario for making power, I'd look at others with the same mods and see what they made at the same boost.

I've never dyno'd a GTE but it sounds about right to me as well.

:eek2: 208hp?

There's got to be something wrong...

I did 272 to the wheels with the same mods but a new turbo.

@ stock boost with stock catback with no fuel tuning? if so... good work, but those numbers look pretty reasonable?

No fuel tuning, just open DP and a little more boost.

Scott (NeverNZ) dyno'd 240hp some with almost the EXACT mods too, he had an HKS dragger cat-back.

I'll find the dyno sheets, brb.

Well if he has 3" intake pipes and stock exhaust, its defintely not going to breathe to its potential. The 3" is probably overkill for stock turbo/exhaust and may be hurting more than helping.

I suspect your cat-converter is seriously dense! :D

its hollow, my finger is pointing at the stock catback system, i got to 5500 rpm and it was still fairly quiet all i could hear was the cams spining and turbo.

not bad.. fwiw 10 psi falling to 7 by redline stock intake exhuast i went a 14.33 at 95 mph.. so seems about right.. stock i went only a 91mph.. the DP will not do anything without an exhaust.. think of a firehose as the dp and the exhaust as a garden hose.. it can only flow as much as the garden hose..
buy just adding an exhuast i went to 100 mph..

Isn't stock horsepower for a GTE 230-232 though? Why are the numbers less than that?

There will always be variations from the manufacturer claims. And with a mechnanical wastegate tolerance as big as ours, factory performance can vary quite a bit. Stock boost is 5.5-7.5 psi, and the auto is a little lower. So you could go as low as say 170 and as high as 205, or somewhere in between.

The stock exhaust is one of the first things that should go, if money permits.
