I was taught that you pulled the entire unit. If it were myself..., I would pull the trans and all. It's going to be easier to set up and put back in. Instead of pulling the engine, inserting the engine and then reconnecting.
I may be swapping my motor to another car, so I figured why take out the trans, but it is easier that way so I guess that's what I'm gonna do. Before any motor goes in any car it's gonna get a HG and ARPs, and I'm probably gonna NA-T. IF I keep my auto setup (I'd like to), what can the A3040 handle HP wise?

A3040?? did you mean a 70 or a 80??? IMO...., I would only pull the trans on the car that I was going to put the new engine into. It seems to me that everything comes off of these cars easier than it goes on. I wouldn't do anything I didn't have to do. Man A port and polish is going to cost me 300$

I suppose I was mistaken on the name of it, but I was refering to the automatic tranny that comes in our cars. I want to know how much power it can handle stock.
