As stated in the heading.

I just bought my friends old S-AFC ( first gen in silver with blue digital display), the wiring is in good shape but he did not have the instructions or wiring color and which wire is which....

I know some of you guys run the S-AFC's fine, and installed them.

Anyone here have the install instructions or have a link???

Apexi's website only has the new S-AFC II documentation....grrr

thanks in advance,

-Jonathan

or if you want to, I can make a step by step photo journal of how to install it. :)

Here is the 87-88 Turbo ECU pinout:

This should get things started nicely.

I already got the PDF file ( all 50 pages ) printed off of Apex-i's website obviously linked above.

now I just have to cut and splice crap together...and the S-AFC is going in my ashtray compartment ( have to cut about 1/4 inch stuff off the dash area for fitment)....I will cover that as well!

Your welcome guys and gals. Since no body has an "HOW TO INSTALL" on this S-AFC anyways...

Good point.

Well its raining and blowing to kingdom come here today.....so I doubt I will do it today.

I think I will wait until sunday or something to do this ( hoping for clear weather).

Thats all it takes to hook one of them bastards up? I would have expected more from Toyota...........

Hahah yeah. I am planning on putting it and the other stuff in my car in on sunday (weather permitting.).

I need a EGT ( new) and A/F ratio gauge though to tune it correctly...without those I am flying blind!

Im not sure if this fits but I have a 1jz motor in my MK3. It has the speed limiter and fuel cut. Do those 2 correspond to the 1jz Ecu as well?

dont trust just an A/F gauge. They're called "Disco Balls" for a reason. They bounce around way too much to be accurate. If you're going to tune yourself, save yourself the trouble and get a wideband

Should'nt a garage with a dyno have a wideband o2 sensor ready to tune with?

And when I go to the dyno, I know they will replace my o2 sensor with the wideband....but how will that work with my car??? I mean I only have one o2 bung.....should I drill another hole and weld on another o2 bung for the wideband?

thanks for the advice!

no, they don't replace your o2 with a wideband o2. You have to have another bung on your downpipe in order to place your wideband o2 sensor in.

Rather than use the search........... Does the SAFC have a built in boost gauge, or something of the sort? I was thinking if it did...... then I wouldn't need to get a gauge for it.....

the SAFC doesn't as far as I know, but a Boost controller like the AVCR should......

Siman - Dyno widebands are inserted into your tail pipe to get the reading. (Some dynos even tap into your vacuum lines to tell you your true boost! that was soo cool when i did mine) They can't physically replace your stock o2 sensor....your car would run like shit!

What I was referring to was that you said you needed a new A/F gauge. The standard Autometer/Greddy/whatever A/F gauge isn't that accurate. It uses a tap off the stock O2 sensor just mostly bounces around and makes pretty lights - hence the name. If you want accurate O2 readings so you can tune or monitor on your own, you would need a seperate wideband setup - which as said before - would require its own bung to be welded onto the DP - and its own display.

I just got some graph paper and color mapped the whole ecu pinout for the S-AFC.

You guys are going to thank me!
I will put it in PDF format its very very useful. On apex's website there are TWO ( green) rpm signals for our cars.....if you look at Greddy's pinout ( dr.j) you will notice that there is a orange slash at IGT ...thats the RPM signal for the REBLIC....I am going to use that RPM signal ( #2 signal on apexi's site) for mine since Greddy uses that one first ( probably a BETTER signal?)...we will see tonight guys!

Here is some pics so far. First my drawrings ( insert british accent here hahahah) then some pics of the semi "clean" installation....notice the buldge...hopefully after I get the thing up and running I will be able to correct the physical blemish's.....but as we all know, form FOLLOWS function!!!!...that goes for the Blitz boost meter hanging on screw wall expander taps as well...LMAO...

I have a new gauge set coming soon...so disregaurd the ghetto-ness... :biglaugh:
