Got a new car today

A friend gave me a 1989 chrysler conquest tsi. It has 88k and is a turbo 5 speed recaro model. It does not have the motor in the car, but it comes with a new 2.6 motor and turbo. The interior could use a little work but the out side looks great! What does everybody think of these cars?

I have been looking around and the 2.6 seem's to make good power, as long as you address the head gasket problems.

I guy close to me had two of them, they both had replacment engines in them.

Unfortunatly he NEVER let me see under the hood. But he was clipping like low 12's, high 11's

I got a Mitsu Starion too, but it's been sitting in the garage for 3 years now
It's quite a bit lighter than the MKIII Supra, but the engine is rather old technology... vacuum advance, 2 valves per cylinder plus "jet valves". the jet valves are the main reason the heads crack quite often, but there are a few manufacturers who make replacement heads without the jet valves for about $300-$600.

Yeah, dump the G63B and put a 4G63 in it.
Or, a 7m. that would be cool too

I'd say put a 7M in it. The car itself is alot lighter then the supra. Post up some pics so we can see how good the body is :naughty:

one of my neighbors has a SWEET black on black Conquest TSi.. i think an 88 with ONLY 54,000 miles.. i seriously entertained the thought of buying it weeks before i decided to start tearing down the supra for the rebuild. Very cool and unique cars.

I was all excited until i found out the 2.6L G54B is only SOHC Some even have only 8 valves..

Nice dude, those cars are pretty peppy and look great, theres a black one in my town with 450 rwhp, restored interior and repainted red with stock wheels powdercoated black thing is awesome. I'd recommend trying to find the aftermarket aluminum ported and polished head for it the stock head is cast iron at least thats what the guy with the starion here in town said. post some pics man

The one in my town has a brand new 4g63 with a t3/t4 turbo kit, FMIC, Built head, forged pistons and a racing crank so pretty good he makes the 450 on only 14psi boost, hes waiting for a new engine management system to run the 22 he built the engine for hehe i can't wait. He said the stock engine was a POS

The motor in my supra is getting ready to come out for the new one so I will have a extra forged 7m!!! I will probley end up getting the conquest running and sell it..

Body is very good + a new motor = MORE parts for the supra!

I would definately agree with all the engine change suggestions, my friend and I had nothing but trouble with that 2.6L.
