So I should own a supra to come visit this forum?

Damn, hopefully nobody will figure out that all we have is a Nissan, a CumFord and a 56 BelAir...:hsugh:

LS1 that Miata.

Don't listen to John, 7M that bitch!

Seriously, a stock or bolt-on 7M in such a small car will be rediculously fast compared to the same setup in the supra.

If you still have supra and motor, swap it, if not, eh, your choice of motor will do ;)

WTF 7M. I wouldn't want to swap a 7M into a MK3 again.

This is in reference to swapping it into a Miata.

If you've got the motor and the new car, why not do it versus spending more money on another motor, be it a 1JZ, 2JZ, LS1, or whatever??

yeah to those saying 7m, don't be naive... LS1 FTW.

Yeah, because swapping an LS1 is a walk in the park :icon_roll

I really dont think a 7M would be as bad as people think. Pretty sure its lighter than a 302, which is a common swap, and the car doesnt become a lost cause handling wise like people think.

Time and money permitting, I'd DEFINITELY do it to mine.

what if you add 100hp and 150 ft lbs via an ls1? haha. And i think the 7m is about the same weight as a v8 with aluminum heads. Displacement is empty space, so that doesnt have to mean it weighs more...

Im pretty sure that if you put the 7m in the miata the car would fold in half. Plus you take the only good thing about a miata (that would be the handling) and throw it in the shitter. Honestly your best bet as far as swaps in one of those things is probably the V-6 3800 series motor.
1.Real cheap. It basically came in every car GM made in the late 90's-2000's
2.Pretty reliable
3.Really really cheap
4.Decent power 200ish n/a.
5.GM/every supercharger company make a supercharger for it
6.Really freaking cheap
7.Doesn't weigh 2000lbs like the 7m so you won't sacrifice the handling of the car.
8.Chhhhheeeeeeeaaaaaaappppppp!!!!!

20b is a cool idea. So is a 3800. They make a lot of torque and the supercharger is an easy swap. Only the 95+ is 200hp. look for a 99+ if you want any GM motor at all. Anything that says series 3 is basically ls1 architecture. Smooth, good heads, good fuel injection, and plenty of potential for power and high rpms

Don't listen to these lot and ruin a Miata with a boat anchor of an engine. Bolt on a cheap as chips turbo kit, sort the already fantastic suspension and go find some twisties.

Almost ended up going down the Miata route myself, but missed out and got stuck with another Supra. The second I can justify (and afford :p) two cars, I'll be picking up a Eunos Roadster as a daily for sure :).

There are two kids around where I live with turbo Miata's. One runs 15.5 the other runs 14.9. You don't want to spend the money turboing that powerplant. My vote is still the 3800 series II/III. The Series III supercharged put down 260hp.

You (along with everyone else who has chipped in on the subject of engine swaps :icon_razz) have missed the point of the Miata. The last thing it was built for was to go fast in a straight line. It's a car built for corners. Not the Quarter mile.

Have you seen a V-6 motor before. They are TINY. Its a 3.8liter aluminum block/head. I bet you it doesn't weight much more than the stock 1.8liter.

Those who think the Miata suddenly doesnt handle the same because of a few hundred extra lbs havent talked to or gone for a ride in one. Theres plenty of people on Miata.net that hate the idea of a big engine in a little car, but theres also many badass swaps. I think a 302 swap only changes the weight distribution to 52/48 or 51/49, not as bad as everyone was assuming.

I know the Miata was meant to handle, but in the U.S., you have to have power. All of the roads here are long with very little dramatic turning. A 7M with I/E would make the car amazing all around; even with a monstrous I6 in front, I highly doubt it WONT still handle better than most cars on the road.

It would actually be a lot easier then a stupid 7m.
It is nowhere lighter then a 302, and does not make the same hp per dollar as a 302.

Keep it all in the family.

Thats what I like too hear.A big fast motor in a small car is cool but only if it's in the family.

I love miata's and my friend has one.I almost got one when I almost sold my supra but I think I bumped my head that day.

BTW the miata forums are tuff.Everybody on there rips anyone apart that says any lil dumb thing. But I mean more than half of them are hardcore racers.I would just lurk.well good bye
