I want to drain and refill the fluid in my W58 and my 4.3 differential. What are the some good fluids to use and what is the recommended use of fluid for each one?

P.S. - I don't wanna spend $10/quart for fluid, but still want great performance from a fluid that I could get at a local parts store.

Well I was going to tell you Redlline Tranny fluid and differential, but then you said that you don't want to spend ten dollars a quart for it. I can't remember how much it cost, but that would be pretty close. It's not like your going to change it again anytime soon. You'd be much wiser to buy the good stuff now. You won't change it again probably as long as you own your car. What's ten dollars a bottle spaced out over the next couple of years? Hope you make the right choice.............lol

Look at it this way, it's not like changing your oil it doesn't have to be done every 3,000 miles. You can get quite a bit of mileage out of that $40 in fluids, and it's certainly a lot cheaper then having to rebuild them.

Aye, the diff holds 1.4 qts, so thats about 25 bux of redline gear oil and 2.5 quarts for the w58, so about 40 bux for the redline mt90.

Looking at 65 bux for fluids alone. I'd do it once a year, on the anniversary of getting the car in my hands, so thats only 65 bux extra a year in maintenance. In my view thats cheap, but the stuff is expensive.

redline is like 7.95 each from summit (www.summitracing.com) I just bought 75-90 for the diff (which they claim is more like a 75-250) and heavy shockproof for the tranny and I got some 5-30 (I think) for the engine(heard a lot of people saying good things about it) I also bought extra (3 quarts for the diff, 5 for the tranny, and 7 for the engine) It was $130. It's expensive, but I've heard of 'miracles' happening when you use better fluids, so I'd say it's worth a shot.
