Well, I have spent the past week or so reading all the links in Supracentral's sig. I'm pretty sure that all those who have taking the time to read them will find them to be quite informative and really damn good too, specially the motor oil one (boy, did I find out many of the things I was taught were incorrect or so).

So, just so I can keep reading new stuff, anyone else know of either, other threads around SM or other interesting links, like Supracentral's, with really good informative stuff?

And just in case someone asks, "what would you like to know then?"..... Well, let's see. How about transmission designs? Or how about certain subjects that people are often misguided about? Ah, a good one, camshaft designs and selections, the proper way?

I'm damn sure there are so many articles out there, but it's hard to find the ones that are actually made by educated people, like many of the members here (Supracentral, drjonez, IJ, to name a few).

For cams start here:

http://auto.howstuffworks.com/camshaft.htm

Selecting a cam is pretty much a compromise. How much drivability, off idle torque, fuel mileage, etc are you willing to give up in exchange for big power?

To the uneducated listener (my mom for example), will listen to something like a top fuel dragster idle and will say "wow, that thing sounds like it's having problems". The funny part is, she is 100% CORRECT.

The top fuel dragster gives up idle quality, driveability, etc COMPLETELY in exchange for peak power. You wouldnt' want to drive a cam like that on the street.

But get the basic digested first and we'll move on from there.

I already know the basics ;). It's the intermidiae-hard? stuff that I would like to be reading up on. Camshafts were just one of the things that came to mind at the moment. I'll read about anything to be honest (was reading more psychological studies yesterday).

btw, thanks 3p. Went ahead to have a look through stoptech's site and saved everything into the pc. Guess I'll have some brake reading to do now. Still waiting for Supracentral to surprise me with somethin else though :)

No it isn't. Well, the very begining is wrong. So I stopped there.

I haven't found anything to argue with in that StopTech article, it all matches what I've experienced over the years.

What's wrong with it Nick?
