So I was thinking Of Functionality today, and Among All the Body pieces available for the Mk3 one That I haven't seen on Any of the cars here on the forum (Unless Im Mistaken) is the Quarter Window Louvers. Now I was thinking of this Because Im considering a future project of Replacing the Rear quarters with Lexan, and then Running a Dual outlet Naca Duct as a Rear Brake cooler as well As a cooler for the LSD. So realistically That Might make The 5-0 a little suspicious But If I got a hand on Some replica or Factory Stock Window Louvers They Would Cover/Disguise The Naca Duct inlet and Lexan Quarters. Works for me. Does anyone Know where to get em, Who has em, etc. Maybe if We talked to Homeboy from Retro Spec they could make a CF mold? :naughty:

One reason is because they are A) Ugly, and B) make that window that is there for your blindspot, even harder to see out of, and if you plan on removing that all together with brake ducks, well then...lets just leave it at "not a smart idea".

Yeah I figured someone would have something Non-Constructive to say at some point anyways, But There are Mirrors and Blind Spot Mirror helpers that work a hell of alot Better than Turning Around to Look out the back of Your Quarter Panels to See if A Patient just leaving the VA in his Caddy is gonna smash your shit in. And on That note, They sell all kinds of body pieces (Aero Fins, Hood Scoops) That don't have as much function as this one could, But there will be someone (Rice) That will buy that stuff and Mount it According to it's Universal Fitament Guide. :nono:

Blind spot? Configure the 3 mirrors you have the right way and there will be none. I've never looked out of those windows.

Uhh....No.
It's there for a reason. I hardly have to use it but sometimes you do use that window.

Blind spot removal is non-constructive? Ok...safety last! Considering you're talking about basically building something for cars that go so damn fast and brake so hard the rears need to be cooled...and use it on the road.

I also didn't say don't do it, I said it's not very smart to do so, if you are racing the car, sure go for it, but for a street driven vehicle its not a bright idea.

BTW helpers is kinda one of those key terms...it will help it, but it's not going to solve it.

Idk, maybe your USDM-zoom windows aren't the best, but... I sure have no blind spot with EDM mirrors. As soon as the car exits rear view mirror, it enters the side ones. Never must I turn to see something (though even if I did it wouldn't make sense - everything's tinted :))

so your going to hack the car for a rear brake duct? why not just get bigger brakes so you can stop faster?

Well I have no Rear interior, No panels, Speakers, Seats, Spare Tires, carpet etc. So This Modification Doesn't Bother me. I also for that matter, Custom Made Front Brake Ducts with the insight of other members here on the board. The Rear and LSD Ducting I was referred to by MKIII owners more involved in Auto X and people expecting alot of Performance out of their brakes without Alot of additional budgetting for a BBK. Im not to Concerned With Installing the ducts or "Hacking the car" as long as its done properly and professionally not just a Redneck with a Sawzall

The cost of doing this properly, as most people have their interior still intact, is going to cost triple of what a rear BBK cost. And not to speak of how it will end up looking.

If you put rear facing lovers over top of a NACA duct,
it will defeat the functionality of the NACA duct..........

So why bother?

^^Actually I was thinking about this Flaw as Well^^
If The Loevers are facing Away from The point of induction it'll Pretty much block any beneficial Air Flowing over/thru the louvers.

I know what a Racing Car is, I know what Auto X is, I Know what a Daily Driver is. And I also know What kind of Performance I want out of My Car When I don't take the car out to the track and Want to try out the local competition. If your Concerned with Making a comfy DD by all means Buy an amp, head unit, plush carpet, Leather upholstered seats, just don't ever Complain about Weight issues When Thats not the direction your projects going. Thats like Buying Lexan replacements Without Other weight loss options.
