So at my local salvage yard there is an 87' supra turbo. They say they cannot sell it for less than 1500. It has 96000 miles. the thing that im wondering about is it has a burnt valve. I have heard it run and it idles rough.
any info you need to tell me if its a good deal just ask...i only got two pics.

Oh! and it has a dent on the door, the hood is faded, and the targa is white. Interior needs a lot of work also.

Looks pretty rough, I'd pass unless you knew the rough running was an easy fix like a plug wire or bad injector. I have trouble believing the 96k miles, i'd carfax it for sure.

Well i don't know if this has anything to do with it but the pipe that had the blow off valve (had an hks bov) is gone...lol...and i'm not to sure about burnt valves but i would think that would make it run rough? I would pass on it but i live a De and supra's around here are pretty rare no matter what generation.

I agree. If you want to get it make sure you are ready for everything that needs to be done. At least the door moldings are still on it.....Mine are MIA, lol.

Id say it has potential, but realize with the history unknown, you can assume it HAS a BHG, or is soon to have one. More often then not that why these things end up in junkyards whole like that. If you planned to do all the work yourself and go with stock parts plan to spend a minimum of another $1500 getting it running right and reliable. $3k for a running turbo isnt bad though. Around here, that car could be had for $5-800 as is.

yeah for $500 you could always part it out yourself and make a profit. $1500 is about the break even point for a non running parts car.

its a 5 speed...i planned on replacing the hg with a mhg as soon as possible and getting the head rebuilt. Could anyone please give me more info on burnt valves? what are symptoms and could it cause more problems...besides more burnt valves?
and btw...i looked all over this car...not one spot of rust which is pretty good for a car on the east coast.

Keep in mind that if your getting it from a salvage yard, it probably has a salvage title, which just about destroys the value of any car.

its a clean title! That was the first thing i asked! It has a megan racing cat back, some intake, and it looks like an after market down pipe but not to sure as to what the stack ones look like.

...you mentioned that the pipe for the bov is missing...

If it's stock, that means that you're letting in a TON of un-metered air, which would make it idle like pure ass.

...if I read that correctly, that may be something to consider.

If you are really interested do these things first:
Compression Check - most likely uncover valve problem, HG problem, or simply compression problem to narrow down the symptoms
Check coolant
Check Dip Stick
Check Underside of Oil cap
If there is any mixing of fluids you will see it in one of these.

If the BOV pipe is missing and not actually blocked off you would hear a massive amount of air being sucked in. So much you would be able to pin point it right away and it would idle very high as with any vaccum leak.

No matter what I say no for $1500. If the mileage is true that is sweet but $500 would be my max.

You are in Delaware? I picked up a pretty damn clean 92' in DC for dirt cheap awhile back. Rebuilt the motor but she is a beauty so there is stuff up in the East!
